I'm trying to piece together the family of Thomas DOYLE and Rose RODGERS/ROGERS of Rosduff, Colmcille / Columbkille. They *may* have been married in 1826 and I've found baptism records for a few of their children, but I know there are more. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

The ones I've found already are:

Bartholemew DOYLE
08 Jan 1846

Catherine DOYLE
06 May 1848

John DOYLE
02 Jun 1851

Thomas DOYLE
01 Jan 1853

Michael DOYLE
27 Feb 1856

Aha - thank you. And do you (or anyone else) have an idea what would place them on a sailing ship? Training exercises? And would they have carried on such things after the war began?

I wonder if anyone can figure out the time and circumstance of these snapshots. They come from a Flensburg, Germany, family - the father (born 1895) was a ships carpenter, the son (born 1923) was in the Seenotdienst (sea rescue service) and the Flak Artillerie of the Luftwaffe during WWII. The uniform of the man in the detail appears military, so I thought it might be on board one of the Kriegsmarine sail training ships in the late 1930s or early 1940s...but that's an uninformed guess.

Aha - that's very good to know. In a quick look I found a similar boat:

Here's another version of the same image, in case it helps -

What's throwing me, too, is what looks like the Luftwaffe insignia on the ship...? Did the Luftwaffe have sea-going Flak Artillerie, or something like that?

Thanks for the extra information. I just found another photo (attached) of the same young man in yet another setting. He is seated on the far right. Any ideas, clues, etc. would be most welcome -

Sure, Dave, thanks - and thanks, too, to the previous repliers, who gave me a much better idea of what kind of jacket appears on the left in the group photo.

Just to get it clear in my own head - although he was a Flieger in the Luftwaffe doesn't mean he was or ever became a literal "Flyer" in the air force, but rather fired flak *at* aircraft?

The young man on the far left of the group is also the man in the second photo - born 1923. Does anyone have ideas regarding any of the uniforms depicted? Many thanks!
