Census Lookup and Resource Requests / ENDSORS in Chorton on Medlock
« on: Wednesday 09 March 05 12:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi - Thanks again for checking - I wish my family was a bit more cooperative!

I have the feeling that all ENDSORs in Chorlton on Medlock and Manchester from 1837 through 1900 are my relations. At least all the ones who come up on freebmd have proved to be (about 25). If you have the time and patience I would be happy to know more about any listed. I'm trying to zero in on precise dates, names of parents, etc.

Short of that I am particularly interested in these:

death: Jul-Sep 1837 ENDSOR James (Chorlton)
marriage: Jun-Sep 1875 ENDSOR William (Chorlton)
births: Jun 1873 ENDSOR    Thomas (Manchester)
Births: Sep 1875 ENDSOR    Elizabeth (Manchester)

Thanks again! IGS

If you are at all able, I'd love birth records for:

ENDSOR William: born c.1819 in Fazeley or Tamworth, Staffordshire
son of James ENDSOR (blacksmith?)

LAMB George: born c.1838/40 in Hunslet or Leeds, Yorkshire
son of William LAMB (farmer)

SHORROCK Jane: born c.1819 in Manchester, Lancashire?
daughter of Laurence SHORROCK (weaver)

I'm in desperate need of ANY Census info on:

William LAMB, farmer, in the Hunslet, Leeds area, born between 1800 and 1820

and his son George LAMB born Hunslet c.1840

George LAMB moved to Manchester by 1862 and became a boiler maker, but I would like to learn more about his rural origins. William or his widow were probably still living in 1865 as George's son, Peter LAMB, was born in Hunslet in 1865.

I'm looking for 1861 Census info for the household of Thomas SMITH, packing case maker, in Salford, Manchester (no known street address). The family would look more or less like the following - but all this is hypothetical:

SMITH Thomas, 28, head, packing case maker, b. Manchester
SMITH Elizabeth, 26, wife, b. Middleton, LANCS
SMITH, Sarah Ann, 9, daughter, b. Manchester
SMITH Isabella, 6, daughter, b. Manchester
SMITH John Thomas, 4, son, b. Manchester
SMITH Robert, 1, son, b. Salford
