Hello Valerie,
Unfortunately they employ one person for two mornings a week to do this work, and they can take upto a month to reply. Not only have they moved but that person has left and the job has been advertised.

The registar for St Asaph is based at Rhyl.
Their new address is Morfa Clwyd, marsh Road, Rhyl,
LL18 2AF. tel 01745 366611. Because boundaries overlap, some records are housed at Abergele. If Rhyl cannot find the record they send it to Abergele.

Having lived near Holywell during my school years,the answer is almost certainly lead mining. The outskirts in the Milwr, Brynford and particutaly Halkyn there are hundreds of  old lead mines, some of which are linked by underground tunnels.
