London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Surname of interest Tozer
« on: Monday 15 August 05 09:00 BST (UK)  »

Hi Jonathon,

We don't have much information on George Tozer. What we do know is that George Henry Tozer was 2 years old when he was brought to Canada by his father, George     Tozer around 1861 after George's wife died. We don't know who his wife was.

We had heard somewhere along the line that George was a boot/shoe maker for the Royal family. We have yet to prove that.

Do you know how old William G's wife was in the 1861 census and could you check the 1871 census to see if they are still listed?

Thank you

Hi Anne,

Thanks for your help.

Yes Ko(e)rner is spelt Korner with umlaut above the "o". In the English spelling of it the o and e are actually intertwined, and it does have German ancestry. In fact my great Uncle had Korner with the umlaut as one of his middle names and my great grandmother told him it was because if he had Korner as one of his names there was a village in Germany where he would always have a burial plot!
I had never tweaked to the idea that the family may have entered Scotland by way of Wales before.

The death registration that you have listed is John William's, but I didn't have it before. My great grandmother had said that her grandfather was a teacher of German, so I did know that.

Thanks for your help. I will persue the Wales suggestion and see what I can find.

Hi Anne,

I didn't realize there were Korner's in Wales.

Do you have access to any census' for Wales?

If you do, would you look up John William Korner for me? He would have been in the 1841 census. I have information that points to him as Charles' dad but haven't been able to comfirm it yet.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Wmouse.

Roz,

Both before 1901 and after if at all possible.
If you have the details from the 1881 and 1891 census' that would be great.  Do you know where I could get more details on the 1901 census?

Thanks

Hi,

I am looking for information on William Bull, who according to the 1901 census was 29, birth year would be 1873. His birth place is listed as Buckinghamshire, Padbury. Census county - Leicestershire, Parish - Wigston Magna and occupation - railway engine stoker.

If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have John Aubrey born about 1717 and his wife Avis Bevan born 1721.
I have no death dates for them.
Their marriage date was May 31 1756.
John was also married before Avis to Margaret Lewis born 1721 and died according to the records that I have Feb 24, 1754. I am thinking that the year could be wrong.
John and Margaret were married May 18, 1742.

The burial information looks like it is the John Aubrey I am looking for. Do you have any information regarding children, and possibly John's Parents?

Andrea,

I am not sure what John Harlow's mother's name was. All I have is that her name may have been Sophie Harlow, maiden name Unknown, his father's name was John Clarence Harlow born 1909, died 1944. I would think that his mother would be deseased as well. I don't know if this helps, oh yes his father was killed in WW2 and I have what is listed in the CWC already. This would be John Clarence's second wife.

Thanks
