Hi everyone,

Just thought I would let you all know that my problem is solved and I now have a death certificate for Joseph. :)

Thank you all for your help. You opened up some new ideas in genealogy for me and I'm pleased to have his certificate.

Many thanks.

Hi Michael and Andrea,

Thank you both so much for your help - I now have the death certificate for Joseph and am very happy :) :)

I contacted Newcastle Registry Office after you kindly narrowed the dates down for me Michael. (thank you for suggesting them Andrea)

I received the cert today and the name and age were both wrong but it is definitely the right certificate(right address and informant)

So, I am very pleased.

Best wishes  :D

Hello Andrea,

I have membership of Ancestry and did look on the new probate records but there was nothing there.

However the house at 56 Ash Street appears to be in the family for several years as opposed to other families who seem to move at every census and so I thought were probably renting thir home.

I didn't know how to find a will and I'll now look into that. I'm only just getting to grips with all the little added extra interesting bits like that.

Many thanks.

Hi,  actually Michael, you have a point there, because a mistake of some sort does seem to have occured . I will follow that one up and get back to you in due course.
Thanks again :)

Michael, :)

Thank you so very very much for that info. It was very kind of you to spend time researching my problem and I really do appreciate it.

The result is real progress because it proves he died between Autumn 1922 and Spring 1923. He was born on 18 April 1846. So he would be 76 or thereabouts - so that death record is not the one - but at least I now have a narrower period of time to research.

I think he probably died and didn't,say, leave home.
He is a direct ancestor and I really want to find his death certificate.
Isabella Sterling is his wife and Mary Ripley is his daughter - Frederick being her husband..

Thank you so much for your time. :)

Best wishes.

Oh dear, :'( it was just a thought and obviously a very impracticable one at that!

It is such a shame that there are not more online records for Newcastle  (but perhaps there will be in due course.)

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply anyway.

Best wishes :)

Hi again, Sorry forgot to say that I spelt the name wrong on my first post. It is Burrell not Burrel. But then again confusion over the name is probably why the death record is so illusive but it is definately Burrell.

Gosh - I didn't even know if such records were available. If it is at all possible and not too time consuming would it be possible for you to check for me?I can probably narrow the dates down a little to say 1920-1926. He was alive on the 1911 census and dead on his wifes death certificate in 1927. My Auntie thinks he died about 1925 but it is such a long time ago she may be wrong.
Best wishes
