Arr so public pressure can work sometimes even if we don't get the map back.

Kerry  :(

Public pressure does work wonders ... it's a great pity the public don't apply pressure more often.

MAPCO also have a MySpace page www.myspace.com/archivemaps

Hello, Juan,

Are we to take it that your grandfather was born in St Pancras c 1870 & do you have any info on him that could help in a search ?  for instance, his parent's names.  Have you looked for any census info for him ?

For a first look I found this entry in the 1871 census, can this be him ?

RG10/216  folio 63  page 49
3, Dery St. St, Pancras

David Welsh  head  age 15  Labourer brick?  b  St Pancras
Norah  wife  age 24   Laundress b  Ireland
Robert  son  age 1   b  St Pancras

Birth
Robert  WELCH  ( note variation)
June ¼  1870  St Pancras  1b  60

Meliora

Could this census record be correct ??? A fifteen year old with a twenty four year old wife!

Limerick / Re: Colonel Michael Flanagan
« on: Thursday 07 May 09 01:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi Leigh,

An obituary may have been published in the Limerick Leader at the time of Colonel Flanagan''s death.

If there was it should give more details about his military career. The paper was first published in 1889.

Roobarb,

Another possible source is British Bandsman ... first published in 1887.

If anyone is searching for more recent band history the Durham County Brass Band Association was founded in 1940.

Have a look at the Internet Bandsman's Everything Within ... items on the site include is a list of articles and books relating to brass bands www.ibew.co.uk
