And here is his first marriage which is an extracted record

GEORGE WILLIAM JOHN DAY    Spouse:  CATHARINE GOWING
Marriage:  21 JUN 1836   Westbury, Wiltshire

The 1851 census has him aged 31 so b 1820 and there is a 12 year old daughter Ann living with them.  As he only married Martha in 1843, Ann must be from his first marriage (unless she was Martha's illegitimate daughter??)

Hi

This is a submitted entry from the IGI and gives a different birthyear which would make it more likely that he had been married before 1843

George William John DAY  Christening:  About 1813   Westbury, Wiltshire

Spouse:  Martha FOREMAN    Marriage:  18 JAN 1843   Westbury, Wiltshire, England

They had no children on the 1841 census so may have married later than 1838.  1851 shows first child aged 9

Did you get her maiden name from a birth certificate

If his wife was called Jane and he had the following children -  the 1851 shows him b 1811 East Malling - not 1806

Edwin, George, John, Sarah & William
