Devon / Non-Conformist Registers

I thought I would pass on this piece of information, as it had me foxed for quite some time!
The various Methodist sects (Wesleyan, Bible Christian, to name but two) organised their churches on a "circuit" system.
The ministers would travel around a circuit of churches, rather than being directly associated with just one.
Consequently all baptisms (and preumably marriages and burials) are registered under the name of the circuit.
The Kilkhampton Circuit (for both Wesleyan and Bible Christian) covers parts of North Devon as well as parts of North Cornwall!
I have recently found that ancestors I had thought to be Cornish were, in fact, from West Putford in Devon!
So, if you are looking for (particularly) North Devon ancestors, don't ignore a possible Cornish connection!
Cheers,
Kevin
