Catherine Rochford/t was born in Ireland in 1820.We think in Co Cork. Family we assume Church of Ireland as her Children brought up in that faith. We know nothing about her Rochford family.  She married James Latham who was born  approx 1815 in Co Cork  a school master. Their First child  Margaret born 1841.They go on to have a further 7 children.
Sarah b before 1844,Thomas b 1844,James b1846,Rev William b 1848,Edward b1851,Oliver b1854and Samuel b1857.
As far as we know they  lived at Drimoleague,Corran near Leap,Bandon and Glanworth near Fermoy.A number of her children go to Australia/New Zealand.

Catherine moved to Birkenhead with her daughter Margaret  and son Edward  around 1891 --we assume after the death of her husband .She dies in 1896.

I would love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of the Rochford family.

South Africa / Thomas Henry (Harry) Hurst
« on: Monday 18 October 10 14:47 BST (UK)  »
Thomas Henry Hurst known often as Harry was born at Killyhelvin in Co Fermanagh ,Ireland in 1881 and died in Johannesburg in 1965. He moved with his first wife Margaret Allen Burns and son Vernon to South Africa around 1935 and had we understand a job with the City Council as an Electrical Engineer. His first wife died in 1953 and he remarried shortly after.

I have not been able to find any passanger records for the family and wonder were else they may have landed.
Does any one know how I could find more about his time with the Council.

Its possible his second wife had a family of her own as in latter years Vernon Hurst s affairs were looked after by a board of guardians. He died in South Africa some time in the late 1980s --but I don't know were.
