Family History Beginners Board / George Jeal Circa born 17 Apr 1852 Plumstead Kent
« on: Sunday 27 November 22 08:03 GMT (UK)  »
I cannot seem to find a death for Elizabeth Jeal (Nee Fox) and I cannot seem to locate a marriage of George Jeal to a Jennet (Janet) !

He was a Butcher. He married Elizabeth Fox 27 Mar 1870 at the Parish Church in Plumstead.
The 1871 Census Indicates he was living with his wife Eliza born 1850 New Cross Kent.
The 1881 Census indicates his wife’s name as Janet born 1851 at Otford Kent.
The 1891 Census indicates his wife’s name as Jennet (Janet) born 1851 at Oxford.
George Jeal died in 1893.
The 1901 Census indicates a Jennette Scott, born Tetten (???) Kent was living with a George Scott (Maybe Short !) and George Jeals children were Step sons / Daughters.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Hello QueenoftheWest (Queenie) and ColC (Colin)
Queenie

I have his father as John Langthen (from the London, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812). Baptism 14 Jan 1697 @ St Mary, Harmondsworth, Hillingdon, Middlesex. (The England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 have this transcribed as John Langthorn via Ancestry).
The name Langthorn has been transcribed over the years in several different spellings, Langthorn (Langthon-Langthen-Langton etc)
There are some unusual names and indeed I will check out the details you have sent to me. Uxbridge is closer to Hillingdon than Hayes is!
Colin
Quite agree with your comments. As I have found out over the years of researching thinking out of the box when researching is a definite requisite

My thanks to you both

Hello Colin (ColC) and hanes teulu

Colin (ColC)
I will cross check the information you have supplied with the dates etc I already have. I also have a Mary baptised in 1772
Agree about the baptisms. And as you say it is unusual for the period.

hanes teulu
Thank you for the baptism date. I will check out the baptism 4 Dec 1737 in Hayes.
Harlington is only about 2 miles from Hayes and Hillingdon is about 3 miles.

Thank you both for the time and trouble you have taken for your replies.

He married Rachel (Rachell) Tompkins (1740-1773) 12 Oct 1761 in Harlington nr Hillingdon Middlesex (and likely and subsequently Elizabeth Whitmore 7 June 1784 at St Marys Ealing Middlesex.)
I am trying to find a baptism for him. It is thought he was form the Hillingdon or Area Middlesex.
Any assistance would be appreciated
