The Common Room / Re: family
« on: Monday 30 May 11 12:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi. Do you know the religion of your Kinsella ancestor? If he was training to be a Roman Catholic priest then he would not have been training at Trinity College Dublin. If he was training to be a CofI clergyman, then he may have been there, I don't know anything about their training. Good luck with your search. frostyknight

When you turn on your computer to check your e-mails and log into Rootschat to have a "quick" look at your relevant boards and you're still there 5 hours later and its midnight.  No housework done or dishes washed. Again!  :o

Thank you Hugo for that link. I've found a great-uncle there, I had heard he had worked there from the 1920's but didn't know for sure. I think a visit to the archives is in order.

Ireland / Re: Re-using names within a family
« on: Friday 11 February 11 22:16 GMT (UK)  »
I think this must have been quite a common practice in Ireland, as it happened in my family too. In the early 1880s my great grand parents had two boys, Thomas and John, who both died in infancy, and two more babies were then named Thomas and John. The eldest son in that branch of the family was always called Thomas, so they probably wanted to keep the tradition.

Hi. In the 1940s/1950s Shane was a TB sanatorium. My late Mum worked there then.
