Other Countries / India - Military, Marriage & Birth > Marriage and births
« on: Saturday 24 March 18 22:08 GMT (UK)  »
I just got a new DNA 3rd cousin whose Ancestor was Thomas BUCKLEY born Oldham, Lancashire 3 July 1878 (sometimes claiming 1883).
He is on the 1881 & 1891 census, after that presumably he joined up.
At the moment all I know is that he married in India (probably 1917 to Dorothy Rhoda Mulholland at Agra, Bengal) and had a son (Thomas) Herbert Buckley born 1918, who married Mary (same age - probably Mary Pereira 1941 at Bombay), children Blossom Ann born 1941 and another son possibly living (from shipping records on Ancestry).
Are there resources apart from FindMyPast and TheGenealogist that may help me find out more please?
Thanks,
Sharon

Warwickshire / James Mander 1760-1847
« on: Friday 09 March 18 23:43 GMT (UK)  »
Any suggestions on finding out further information on this man who is possibly connected to my family.
1841 Census has James Mander age 80 Lock Keeper at Wootton Wawen.
I believe he died at Orchard, Warwick, and was buried at St Mary 14 Nov 1847

I have John Mander boatman born ~1810 married Maria Wenlock nee Barker in 1858, father Mander was James a Lock keeper.

I think John's  baptism is probably the one at Dudley to James & Mary, who appear to have come from the Claverdon Parish, and a matching marriage for James is 1791 to Mary Smith, and he says from Lapworth, but no matching baptisms are turning up :/

I can post more details if required,
thanks,
Sharon

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / St Thomas, Dudley - lookup needed on original PR only
« on: Saturday 17 February 18 02:20 GMT (UK)  »
Please can anyone help with a lookup on the original Parish Registers for St Thomas, Dudley.
I have two records from FreeReg:
County   Worcestershire
Place (link for place information)   Dudley
Church name   St Thomas
Register type   Unspecified
Baptism date   10 Feb 1811
Person forename   Zacheriah
Person sex   M
Father forename   Tho.s.
Father surname   MANDER
Mother forename   Sarah

County   Worcestershire
Place (link for place information)   Dudley
Church name   St Thomas
Register type   Unspecified
Baptism date   10 Feb 1811
Person forename   Daniel
Person sex   M
Father forename   -
Father surname   -
Mother forename   Sarah
Mother surname   MANDER

I am convinced that Zachariah and Daniel (my ancestor) are related as the two baptised end up in Bury, Lancashire together and so do their families, and are witnesses at each other's events.

My problem is that I cannot find likely candidates for Thomas & Sarah, was perhaps Thomas a named father of an illegitimate Zachariah?
Were the two records together on the page?
Can they be read any other way?

I have loads of info on the families - it's just Thomas & Sarah I can't identify, I have traced the Birmingham and Banbury ones and don't believe that is them.

Thanks for any help,
in hope,
Sharon

Worcestershire / Mander of Dudley 1811 baptism help?
« on: Thursday 14 December 17 12:17 GMT (UK)  »
I believe that Daniel Mander (baptised 10 Feb 1811 at Dudley mother Sarah) was my ancestor who went to Bury in Lancashire and married there. Also in Bury was a Zachariah Mander, also baptised on 10 Feb 1811 at Dudley, parents Thomas & Sarah. I was hoping that someone can help me by checking the original parish records to see if they were brothers or not.
many thanks,
Sharon

Derbyshire / MARCHINGTON at Chapel en le Frith
« on: Saturday 26 August 17 00:54 BST (UK)  »
It seems that nowhere has the burials for Chapel en le Frith online?
Also Wills indexes for the period 1780-1858?
I am trying to sort of a tangled knot of Marchington's.
In particular the parentage of John Marchington born Chapel en le Frith c1802 who married Hannah Hallam.
There are lot's of theories around, but I am not yet convinced.
Would anyone be able to help with wills in the time period 1780-1858 and/or burials 1780-1841?
Thanks,
Sharon
