Armed Forces / Re: Stephen or Steven Holdsworth
« on: Thursday 16 June 22 19:27 BST (UK)  »
Hello to you all and thank you so much for all your help it's been very enlightening including the drunk and disorderly.

I have been looking for a Stephen Holdsworth for my history who was confirmed as a clothier in Leeds prior to being recruited

The Stephen Holdsworth I was looking for was a clothier but in Dalkeith Scotland although I do think some more lies have been told here on a marriage certificate.

Jane/Jean Holdsworth (supposedly his daughter) I now think was his sister who wasn't born until 1775

Jane/Jean Holdsworth married a James Potter at Cannongate Scotland  1798 and he was allegedly in the Shropshire Militia although not found any records

They had a son Daniel Potter who married Helen Bolton and had 10 children.  One was baptised at St Pancras London although this family lived in Scotland.

I am sure that the Stephen Holdsworth is the correct one of my history.

It's like a web of intrigue and which way to go now not sure

Thanks again for all your comments

Eileen

Lancashire / Re: James Forshaw
« on: Saturday 29 January 22 15:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

Got another query on James Forshaw with regards to his birthdate on the Parish Register of Walton on the Hill which recorded 06.10.1790 and illegitimate son of Ellin Forshaw.

I have found a burial at St Johns Old Haymarket of an Ellin Forshaw on the 03.10.1790 workhouse?  Seems a bit coincidental.  Could his date of birth been guessed.  There were quite a lot of illegitimate births at Walton on the Hill but burials for the workhouse seem to be at St Johns

Anyone can you help or give me your opinions

I don't know if anyone can help but John Evans joined the 55th foot in Plymouth in 1807 aged 30.

Thanks to rootschat I have his records from 1814 (muster rolls)

He joined in 1807 so any idea where I can find where he was until he met Isabella his wife in Cumberland in 1813/1814

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Liverpool Workhouse

I don't know only just found Ellen because of the birth of her illegitimate son James in 1790 I just thought it was a coincidence that a burial from the workhouse took place at the same time James was born.

I am looking for a workhouse admission.  My 4th great grandmother Ellen Forshaw died in the workhouse and was buried at St Johns Old Haymarket Liverpool on 03.10.1790.  If I am correct she died in childbirth as James her illegitimate son was baptised at Walton on the Hill 24.10.1790 but his date of birth on the register was given as 06.10.1790?  I think it was a bit of a coincidence.

Just wondered if there are any records of family for Ellen and what happened to James.  He became a blacksmith and died in 1835 aged 46.

Can anyone help.

Eileen
