Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Tozer of Bedminster 1891 and 1901
« on: Saturday 01 October 05 06:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi!

I'm hoping a professional can help.. I have been using Ancestry for about a year now, but still can't find my grandfather William Henry Tozer (or father Samuel Henry(1860 Rackenford) and mother Emily (1859 Bedminster)) who was born in 1886 and raised in Bedminster  - in the 1901 census.  I found him in 1891 age 5 living at 16 Richmond Terrace.

His grandmother is the reverse - I found her in 1901 - Ann Tozer age 66 Widower with sons Mathew 23 and Ernest living at 2 St Pauls Road, Bedminster, but I can't find her in 1891 !

I did find my great grandmother in London by searching through the pages (it wasn't indexed) but at least I had a clue which area to look in - Bedminster is unknown to me.

Any help much appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Annie:

It appears after his last service during which he was invalidid - Disqualified would make sense - he doesn't appear to do any naval service after that.

Thanks!  I would never have guessed that.

That just made my day!  Thank you so much - that confirms the marriage record I found in Stoke Damerel for Mary and Joseph and added more siblings - also i now believe the William Thomas in the 1851 census age 8 is their grandson, son of William Thomas in 1841. I am jumping up and down ! what a thrill!  I would love a copy ..will pm you

Hi Jenny:

Thanks for looking that up - that is my family at 14 Silver Street, which I came accross quite by accident a year ago when I found  their daughter Rachel living a few doors down with her husband (Chittick) -  I am trying to connect them to a birth cert I have from 1841 - for William Patey Thomas and Charlotte's son Williams birth.  Could I ask you to look in 1841 if there is such thing for 9 Silver Street MEOT in that year  - thats the address on the birth certificate in 1842.  That would be fantastic if you could!

Many thanks.
