Thank you both for your replies - I will have to read up on British/Chile history for that period now which looks quite interesting. And..see if he made it back to England !

Armed Forces / Royal Navy Seaman discharge 1879
« on: Monday 07 April 08 07:20 BST (UK)  »
The Navy Seaman record I just downloaded from the NA has " Pun Coquimbo" in the "Wither and for what cause discharged".  Googling this has come up with a place name in Chile .. does anyone know if this is likely !?  Rather interesting for a boy from Bethnal Green.his 10 year service was up and he appears to have signed on for another 10 during this time.
Thanks, Sue

Can any one tell me what 5 D. G. stands for ?

Hi

I have  a Jonathan Roe married to a Susanna in the 1841 census both born Sussex ages 52 (c1789) and 42 (c1799)

Susanna is alive in 1851 under Susan of Linchmere Sussex.  Oldest child I could find appears to be born c1816 also  b: Linchmere.

Much appreciated if you could find Susan's maiden name.

Thank you

Hi Mathew:

Sorry, no Tryphena's but I have 14 John Tozers.

I am more than happy to help look for her - are you looking for her in the 1841 census?  Was she married by 1851 and is that her IGI record b: Devonport to John and Ann Tozer? Any extra info might help

Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Ingatestone for HEWITT

Hi JK:

Disapointed my Hewitt not your direct line ! But as you say, they must be related -  I am in Vancouver, BC so had no idea about the Essex / Euston Station connection - that makes a lot of sense - I was quite surprised at all the Hewitt's in Marylebone -  I did go to England last year and walk around the Marylebone area which was a real thrill for me.

Thanks for contacting me

Hi JK:

Benjamin Alexander Hewitt married Mary Ann Heritage who was my gg grandfathers sister in 1843 in St. George Hanover Square London - his father is listed as Benj Alexander Hewitta as well. I lucked out on finding this information only as there was a Thomas Hewitt living with my Heritage's before Mary Ann married.  In the 51 census brother Edwin is living with them.

This is the only sibling I found for my GG grandfather, and couldn't track them past the 51 census - there were a LOT of Hewitts in Marylebone/St Pancras.

He is listed as a Carpenter in the 41 census and Joiner in the 51 :D

I have born c 1821 - could it be your line ?

Regards,
LTS
