Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / One more... what is the place name?
« on: Friday 26 November 10 11:33 GMT (UK)  »
I've looked into the area, and there were lots of "Offices" - but does that say Van office? I know there were also lots of "Travellers in Vans" in the census around Suffolk at this time, so could it be to do with that?
Thank you again in advance :)

 :o That was quick!
Thank you both :)
I have the 1861 census, by then he IS married, so that's all ok. What I was worried about was that John wasn't his father but an uncle or something and it would complicate things *phew*.
Thank you for the welcome, I'm hoping to 'flesh out' what I ahve already discovered, and also fill in some mystery gaps - as with all families mine seems to have it's secrets... Doesn't help that they all seemed to have about 8 children as well. :p

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with the srange word in the relationshiop column, 3 line donw and again at the end of property 222. It was transcribed as "Mllr" but I can't find that shorthand used anywhere else!
Thanks! :)

Devon Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 look up for HUNT, please.
« on: Friday 26 November 10 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I thought I would just jump in here, and ask if John Hunt born in 1810, married in 1837 and then moved to London is part of this family?
He is my great x3 grandfather!
sounds like John Dennis might be his uncle?
Thank you in advance for any help :)
