New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: John MUNRO 1864-1952

Just noting in case it's relevant (as I am not familiar with when one might sit what)...

There is a John B Munro passing Class C teacher's exams in 1918 in Tauranga.

EDIT:  This is more likely to be John Bain Munro

Regarding Martha's birth, might she have been registered later and perhaps under one of the subsequent mothers' husbands' surnames?

This is from Manawatu Cemetery database for those following along:

Windmier, George
Age:   65
Marital Status:
Denomination/Religion:   Catholic
Date of Death:   4/12/1894
Date of Interment:   4/12/1894
Interment Type:   Burial
Cemetery:   Kimbolton
Row   B
Plot Number:   17
Interment ID:   11325

Going out on a limb here ... that Catholic was mentioned makes me suspect Netherland as the first country of birth; then Germany / Belgium in particular with that surname.

So name could be George, Georg, Joerg, Jorg, or sometimes noted as just Geo.

Have you contacted the council to ask for any further records?  Naturalisation records microfiche?  Shipping records.  All might shed light on DOB / DOD, name spelling which might help ???

ADDED: Also Windmeyer as a surname option; Windmeier too.  Van Meyer?  Van Meier?

RCers, might there be a ship's diary still for this era at Archives NZ?

There appears to be an Alien registration file at Archives NZ

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Passenger list for the John McVicar 1857

It appears that the manifest snippet on the third party website may have come from the NZSG according the Petone Settlers database:

Regarding the NZ Archives, I understood that there were physical card holdings in Wellington for ships that you can access in person. One might presume these have all been digitised, but my experience with other types of records is that they are a work in progress.

I am presuming you haven't overlooked a 'look-up' at the National Archives in Wellington for the ship's manifest?

ADDED: Noting that sometimes this ship is called the John MacVicar
