The Boaler St address seems to be around the site of the famous Grafton Rooms. I assume the house ( or establishment) on the site must have preceeded the Grafton which was built sometime later. There was a suggestion that it may be an address of convenience as she may have been on her own at this stage.

Hi Madri
Thanks for this. I did post this before, but only just found out the info re his supposed death by manhole!
I didnt spot the married staus on the 1901, so it may be that he left her after the child was born, the story about his demise may be have been just a tale.
I havent sent for the birth cert of John King, but in some recent paperwork Elizabeth stated he was born at 41 Boaler St Liverpool, which does not seem to exist. Have not had much time to investigate this yet

Hi
Have tried and failed to find a death cert. Prior to this recent info I was working on the theory that he had left for pastures new. He was listed as a costermonger on the marriage cert and I have no idea how they ended up in Liverpool, I had banked on a long trip abroad or back to London to be with his family!

Lancashire / Death on the docks, will there be records?
« on: Sunday 17 April 11 21:46 BST (UK)  »
I have been mystified for some time regarding one of my ancestors. He seems to disappear from the records following his wedding to my g grandmaother, however I was recently told that he died in an accident. His name was Henry King, he was born in London c1863 and married my ggrandmother Elizabeth Simpson 12/11/1893 in Bethnal Green. They have a son John King born Liverpool 1899, she appears on the 1901 census in Harlow Street along with her son but without Henry.
I was advised recently that he died after falling down an open manhole on the Liverpool docks. Given the age of his son, this must have happened some time between 1898 and 1901.
Has anybody any idea if there may be a record of this incident??

Woodhead is listed in my 1924/5 Southport directory as dairyman 155 Hart Street. No other info given. At that time there are 25 Lords listed in vairious parts of the town. If you have any other addresses I can check them out.

Hi
The Ideal Laundry is in my directory in Brook Street Crossens. The managing director is listed as G.H. Hibbott. He/She is not listed elsewhere in the book, so I can only assume lived outside the town.
There is an advert for the Laundry, if you would like it, send me your email on a PM and I will try to scan a copy.

Lancashire / Re: Help with a street name please ?

Its on my old a-z, situated between Athol St and Boundry street. The road is very short and could not have contained more than a handful of properties. The road ran between Steel St and Houlgrave St. This would probably be classed as Kirkdale L5. I have looked at the current map, non of the old street pattern exists, nearest you can get would be Steel Court ( named after steel st I assume)
