many thanks for all help. Have now established when Mary Jackson died. Unfotunately Jacksons in South Leith wrong family. Not family of Peter Jackson and Helen jackson nee Sanderson

Many thanks for help to date. Still trying to find date of death for Thomas Jackson and John Jackson who appear to have been alive in 1873 when their father Peter Jackson died. Also seeking date of death of Mary Jackson born 1827 who was alive in 1881 but cannot find dates of death on Scottish people records.

Possible sources Dumfries Newspapers which are indexed from before 1804 held by Ewart Library Dumfries and Dumfries Archive Centre-they are classified so details on farmers can be extracted. Later Census returns from 1841. Cemetery records for Kirkhahoe probably held by Archive Centre.

agnes haig douglas was my aunt and died in 1979.she was married to John douglas who was a radio operator in the merchant navy and collapsed and died in carlisle station in 1943.she had two sons ian douglas who was born in 1934 and died in 1978? her other son stuart emigrated to new zealand
