Lila Graceís mother  Lila Beatrice .

Difficult  to find  the  birth of Lila Beatrice as her mother Elizabeth Matilda, had a trail of marriages. But I think it is this-

BURGESS EULALA  B.
14422/1892
F. HARRY
M. ELIZABETH M
GOULBURN

I donít see a marriage fitting here.

Have we been through the many marriagesof Elizabeth SHARP on another thread?

John Izzard, Charles MCole  John Wright, Charles Newling ?

When Lila Beatrice  gets to her marriage to William Joseph STARR, she states her father is Charles McCOOLE, but I think that is not the case.

The sad rape case story. Lila Beatrice  McCOLE 1906.
 https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/234163353
shows Elizabeth Matilda by 1906 was married to Charles NEWLING.
She seems to say she had adopted Lila Beatrice in the news item, but I doubt that.

In 1930 she said she was aged 20, born Cootamundra, and the daughter of Jack HAYNES, a Traveller, and Lila Beatrice McCOOLE.  Many thanks Dianna

As it turns out the man's name was Edward Henry HAYNES.
The date of this petition 1922 suggests she, Lila Beatrice,  could not marry McPherson because she was still married to HAYNES

EDIT
SO...
Since I posted this, GeoffTurner has re-considered regarding  the information his post contained and withdrawn it.

So just to clarify.....

This was about a person, possibly still living related to this couple.

Instead, there is a new thread started about the couple.

In 1949 Lila Grace MAHER was living at 3a Bruce Street Ashfield
With  Matthew James MAHER, a moulders assistant.

By 1972 she is not sharing his address.

He is on the NSW E Roll from 1943 when he is living with his parents , Agnes and Abraham MAHER at 7 Francis Street Strathfield.

Well.  It will be interesting to hear what our OP Jardiner has to say about the findings.
Hopefully it has all been helpful.

Yes. They waited almost 10 years to finalise his estate in England .
He was apparently last heard of in 1872.

Mr LITTLE of Collingwood, mentioned in the other news clip, was likely John Moore LITTLE.
He and his family were from the Cumberland region of England and may have been associates

There is nothing to indicate that Hugo ever  responded to the advertisement.

Or maybe he collected it and headed to NZ as found by Maddy!

Modified to add:
The Hugo KING fined for his son's truancy is probably this Hugo KOENIG who married Margaret CARROLL in 1872 in Victoria. Margaret's death notice here mentions sons Edward, James and Victor.
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/202452480?searchTerm=%22hugo%20king%22

so probably not your man.

No.
I had a look at this one and he was a boot -finisher living in Fitzroy from 1880 to 1883.

His son (one of them) Victor enlisted WW2 and was born at Queenstown Victoria round 1895.
There was a Hugo KING in Queenstown who struck gold at Yow Yow mine.

All an interesting story, but , as you say Maddy.  Wrong man.

So the last good sighting is still the advertisement from Mr Little in 1879 cited above.
