Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Could you look at this address in 1851
« on: Tuesday 31 May 05 06:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi Friends,
Have searched vainly for a 1851 census entry for this family.  I have '41, '61 and others. I  now have a birth cert of their child showing where they lived in 1854.

Hoping like mad they were also there in1851,( if one can search 1851 by address.)

Address - 120 Suffolk Street, Southwark.

Birth registered in district of Saint George the Martyr, Southwark.  In the Sub-division of The Borough Road, Southwark.  Surrey

Family.  Robert and Elizabeth Parrett  (his occ. hosier).  Child Clara Matilda b. 4/8/1854
Birth Registered 11/10/1854
Registrar.  Henry Clement Elliot.

I'm giving all these details in case it helps to pinpoint  a Suffolk St. in case there are many.  Here's hoping.  Sue

Hi Jonathan,
I appreciate your input and resources.  I can see why you and the others have a lot of stars and I haven't!!!  It's about brains, connections and experience.  I shall work on the info you have provided.  Sue

Hi Jonathan.
Yes, Eliza died in March 1878 and the new bride was Emma Levitt Davis.

You didn't see anything of Sarah Susanna(h) Mason by any chance?

The info. about West Ham is interesting and I will try to follow up the specific Ratcliffe birth place and see if there is a sort of 'crop ' of Masons that might tie in.

Was the address of the entry the actual pub or the home do you remember.  Did they live on the workplace premises or away?

Greatly appreciate your interest.  Sue

So grateful for your kind work for me.
JONATHAN.  I can provide some details you requested.
Marriage date - 25/5/63.  Groom -   George James Parrett.  At the Prish Church in the Parish of South Hackney, Midd.  Yes, I know a bit about them from 1871.
Addr - 66 Pownell Rd. Shoreditch.
Geo. Jas Parrett  30 surgical instument maker
Eliza 29 wife b. Stepney  Midd
Plus sundry offspring
1881 and 1891 much the same with more offspring

EMSWORTHY Thanks for your first look up.  Is that 1851?  I do believe her name was really Eliza.  If the year is right, though this is hopeful.
Your second finding is hard to make sense of for my case!

SYLVIAAN  I would like to get her b. cert, but have only the the date and name of father.  I have searched bmd images but inconclusive.

Thanks again.  Sue

Hi Friends,  I have my g, grandfather's marriage cert and want to know more about his wife's family.  From this and a few other sources I know this.

Her Father - James Samuel Mason,  Bricklayer
Eliza Mason (the bride herself) born July 1941 ( I think Stepney)
Someone in the family who was a wittness at the ceremony -probably her sister or mother - is
Sarah Susanna(h) Mason.
A bmd entry shows a child of the  Sarah Susanna  name born in Stepney in 1845. Hope this is enough to find something.
Many thanks, Sue

Hi Emma,

In a way I am.  Clara's father was my gg grandfather Robert Parrett.  The North family are actually a digression as so often seems to happen in this businass!  I am tough enough to take the news!!! Believe me.  Life was hard in those days I know.  Thanks for your interest.

Hi Emma,
Yes, never thought of that. It could just mean "currently out of a position"

Thanks for offering to look at the children.

Edith has turned to Edward.  Esther has disappeared and Laura and May arrived.

I get quite funny at the thought the missing ones have died .  Isn't it pathetic!! It's a 100 years ago, but still gets to me!!  Sue

Emma,  Thank you for your time and trouble.   A bit of serious time needed for analysing now.  We have lost some and gained some!.  Most grateful.  Sue
PS. Do you think "out of place" means "not living in"?
