I am coming back to family history after a break, but looking through my files I do't actually have a date of death for Thomas, Emma's husband - did he die quite young and therefore she remarried?

:o  Sorry have modified this post as I have just relooked at my info I do actually have Thomas on the census of 1891 as a widower and a potential death of 1892 Woodstock - does this tie in with your info?

I have previously checked the bmd index from 1871 - 1881 assuming that she died before 1881 as it would be unlikely to miss 2 censuses by accident. The nearest entries I got were Aylesbury Oct -Dec 1871, Bicester j-m 1873, Oxford a-j 1874 and Banbury j-m 1880 - I have not sent off for any of these certificates.  The other thought I had was did she go and live with one of her children? George Wheeler married Rachel Gough and her mother Mary was buried near their home in Clifford Chambers, Warwickshire, although she did not appear on any census with them.  There is a Emma Wheeler died j-s 1874 Warwick - again I haven't the certificate.

I am descended from their son George Wheeler born 1859. I also have no details of her death however the 1880 census states Thomas as married rather than widowed so is it possible that they were estranged and she moved away?

Europe / Ancestor born on Bay of Biscay
« on: Tuesday 04 January 11 19:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have an ancestor living in Wolverton, Warwickshire, who is started as born on the Bay of Biscay on various census returns. His name is William Harrison born about 1798, he married Charlottte Hatton in Brailes in 1822. The only thing I can think of is that he may have been born on a ship - did woman go on ships in the Napeleonic wars? Is there any way I can trace his birth?
