London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: John hurly snr.

Thanks for replying . My mother mentioned that her nana ( Alice) surname was Sargent  maybe or maybe pronounced or spelt differently. And mother said she was Welsh and use to go tho the chapel. Whatever the chapel is. So when you mentioned the marriage in the Anglian church. I wondered, but then again it was rumoured they never married. Yes the best thing for me to do is get John Alfred Hurley s. My grandfathers birth certificate, and take it from there.   I will let you know thanks.

Thanks Mary, for the information. I sent a email to the parish priest the reverend Donovan , of Kilmurry parish, as the gro gave me a couple of contacts.and I took it from there. As to now I have no replies.you mentioned kilbonane church . But if you look at Kilmurry.ie all the churches are on the website in that area. I am a bit lost really as to which parish would have baptism register , I don't expect certificates . From 1824 from when my ancestor was born at lissardagh. Still at leastt I know a bit more. I was advised to get in touch with macroom church records, have you any info on lissardagh , where would my ancestors have travelled from to get to the uk . My ancestor was born 1824 Married 29th November 1845. His son Thomas was born 1863/4. In the uk . So Denis Callaghan left cork between those times.. Any information would be appreciated.

Sinnan.  Thanks for that . Denis Callaghan died in st George in the east March 1879. So far I have found out he was born 1824 in lissardagh, married 1845 so far with a bit of help from a lady on here in the macroom area  as in 1852 he is the only Denis in the area, so now I am looking for  church in macroon . Denis had his son Thomas 1864 in London. So he left cork between his marriage 1845 onwards. From the help I have received I think he was still in lissardagh in 1852. Thanks for your input. Sorry about the spelling mistakes.

thanks so what you are saying it shoes to matter who I email at Kilmurry parish , I won't get a photocopy of a marriage certificate, also being that you seem to know a lot more than me, would you happen to know which parish the marriage took place at?  And where it says occupation blank does it mean they had no occupations . So the churches don't have copies of marriage certificates ,I know that the gro emailed me to say that I would have to get in touch with the parish . At least I know there were two witnesses. Thankyou.

Yes I have asked the some questions in the past years. As I couldn't get any information on my g/g/ grandfather.i recently I looked on www.irishgeneology.ie and found the marriage details of Denis Callaghan marrying Hanora mahony, 29th November 1845. As I have said before the only info I have is Kilmurry moviddy kilbonane @ cannavee (rc). Area cork @ Ross I have emailed the gro in Dublin and have been informed the only way I could find this information is by finding the church, for 1845 which I have been looking for, I have looked at the cork@ross website and it seems the only parish applicable is Kilmurry.  Any information would be appreciated.     Thankyou.

Thanks for your reply, I can't remember where I got it from , but as you say it's too early for certificates , I would love to obtain some information on Denis Callaghan, as I have no birth or baptism certificate, maybe you can help me, I have been searching for over seven years , Denis Callaghan was born 1824 I think in cork, he died in 1879 London . The marriage I looked at was 29th November 1845 between Denis Callaghan and hanorah Mahoney.  In cork   Thanks
