Hi!
Does anyone have access to a transcript of the 1841 census that is not done by Ancestry?
I can't find my Parkers on Ancestry and I am hoping that some kind Rootschatter with access to a different site might be willing and able to take a peek and see where they are hiding.
Here is what the family should look like in 1841:
John Parker, born abt 1808 in Canterbury, Kent
Elizabeth Parker, born abt 1805 in East Dereham, Norfolk
Susanna / Susan Parker, born abt 1829 in Market Dereham, Norfolk
John Thomas (or John or Thomas) Parker, born abt 1831 in Mattishall, Norfolk
Clementia or Clementina Parker, born abt 1833 in Market Dereham, Norfolk
Harriet Parker, born 1840 in Chatham, Kent
I do not have Harriet's birth record, so I don't know where the family was living in Chatham in 1840. I have not found a baptism for her. Her younger brother, Abraham, was born in Chatham in 1843 and I haven't found a baptism for him, either. (Neither Harriet nor Abraham is my direct ancestor and I can't afford to buy their birth certificates.)
In 1851 and up, the parents are living on Chatham Hill. I can't tell if that's in Chatham or Gillingham; it seems to vary.
I have tracked most of the descendants and I've got lots of marriages, baptisms, etc.
I really need to see the family as a group in 1841 because I need stronger proof that my John Thomas (or John or Thomas) Parker belongs to that family.
This is the evidence I have so far:
- My guy was listed as Thomas in the census from 1851-1891.
- Thomas Parker's 1850 marriage lists his father as John Parker, labourer.
- His birthplace of Norfolk goes along with the other Parker children's births.
- Thomas and his wife are also living on Chatham Hill in 1851 (but not next door to John and Elizabeth).
- It looks like he and his wife were witnesses to the marriage of Susanna Parker (who I believe was his sister).
- The marriage of one of his sons lists him as John Parker.
- The marriage of one of his daughters lists him as John Thomas Parker.
- He had a son named John Thomas Parker.
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Josephine
