I'm Canadian. We used to say, "mind your beeswax." I don't know if anyone says that anymore.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Half Aunt or Cousin

My aunt is listed as my first cousin in our Ancestry DNA results; she's also listed as my brother's first cousin. She's definitely our aunt, though.

Thank you, dbree, I will give it a go!

Yay, you found him, dbree!

(It seems the index I was looking at doesn't recognize Alec as being similar to Alexander, LOL.)

Thanks to you. :) I was betting he was on the same ship, so just flipped through the military pages.

dbree, if it's not too much trouble, would you please tell me exactly how and where you found him? I went to his wife's page (on FindMyPast) and thought I'd gone to the beginning of the "film strip" (or whatever they call it), then scrolled through every page, and couldn't find him. It's driving me crazy, LOL (mostly because I want to learn from this). How do you find the military pages?

Thank you, tornado.

You never know what you might find in the future as more documents go online.

I'm happy to help, tornado! I just wish I could find more!

Ages don't always line up exactly; that's why it's always good to find corroborating documentation whenever possible.

I was hoping to find something in the newspapers about Louisa/Beatrice being a singer/actress, but no luck. Someone else might have more success.

Ship passenger list - I wonder if this is her.

Ship: Adriatic
Departing from Liverpool abt 24 July 1919 (that's what it says; some other pages say it departed on the 28th)
Destination: Halifax, Nova Scotia & New York

This whole page, and the next, are under the heading, "Canadian Military Dependents."

Mrs. L. B. McKenzie; age 32; housewife; destination Halifax, NS; country of last permanent residence = England; country of intended permanent residence = Canada

I can't find a corresponding passenger list for Alexander McKenzie. That doesn't mean there wasn't one -- it just means I can't find it.

shiney19, genealogy research does the same thing for me. I'm going to send you a PM in a few minutes.

shiney19,

Have you tried to contact the great-nephew? He could probably tell you the outcome and maybe he'd be willing to give you a copy of the will.
