Devon Completed Lookup Requests / 1 looe street plymouth charles the martyr 1881
« on: Friday 08 April 05 21:51 BST (UK)  »
I don't know whether anybody can help me but on the 1881 Census, I  have my great grandmother as being a grocer at 1 Looe Street, Plymouth.
She was Celia Eustace Lawrey a widow aged 33 yrs.
Can anybody tell me whether Looe Street was made up of shops and if it is still there now.

Thanks

Thanks for replying.
As far as i know he was Charles Carraway and Hannah Hibberd married him in Urchfont Wilts on 21st August 1847.

He was found on a Census and I don't know which one but was listed as an Inland Revenue Agent, so it would have probably been in his interest to keep on the move!!

Thanks.

I should hopefully be going over to the Record Office again next week.

Let me know who you want looked up.

There is an index card system there for all people who are on the fiche. They are alphabetical and therefore very easy to look up.

I have a Hannah Hibberd who married Charles Carraway 21st Aug 1847 in Urchfont.
She was born 1822 in Urchfont and I have no details of him, other than he was an Inland Revenue Agent.

Can anybody check the 1851 or 1861 to see if they are still in Urchfont/West Lavington and whether there are any children at that time.

Thanks

I went to Portsmouth Record Office today and looked for your Stonelake family.

There are baptisms for Henry Fowler Stonelake 31st Aug 1834, son of William and Elizabeth of Flat House a tailor, reference no CHU3/!B/21.

Josias 26th Feb 1837. reference no CHU3/1B/24.
Thomas Francis 31st Aug 1832. reference no CHU3/1B/21.

All children by the same parents.

Hope this helps but if not, let me know what else you would like looked up.

I went to the Portsmouth Record Office today and looked for your Anna Maria Shorten.

She was baptised at St.Thomas Church Portsmouth 24th Oct 1847. daughter of William Shorten and Margaret of Warblington Street Portsmouth.
William was a Private in the 52nd Regiment.
Record Office record no CHU2/1B/H.

There were no other children for the above and I couldn't see an index card for their marriage, so it looks as if they got married somewhere else.

If you need any more info looked up, send me an E.Mail.
