census link for reference :

  O'Brien household, Clontarf - 1901

Father Andrew born in Co. Kilkenny, mother born in Co. Wicklow, all children born in Co. Dublin.

The best match for father Andrew that I can see in 1911 is this one :

 O'Brien household, North Strand Road - 1911

If that's the correct family then Andrew has recently remarried Ellen, and the 'years married' section of the form has '7 months'. His occupation fits (although mis-transcribed) although his county of birth is given as Carlow, rather than Kilkenny. His death certificate gives the name Mrs E O'Brien

Some of the children are also present with ages that fit the 1901 details.

Shane,

Thanks very much. That is the right family. He was married to a woman called Jane who must have died between the two census as ive found other of the children staying with Andrews brother during the 1911 census. Not sure why it says carlow. His brother was also born in Kilkenny. Its thrown a spanner in the works because my mum was sure her father Peter (12) moved to Liverpool when he was 9.

Great stuff

Thanks you

Chris

Dublin / O'Briens Dublin 1891
« on: Thursday 13 January 11 23:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone.

Im researching my great grandfathers family from Dublin. Ive found him in the 1901 census. Going by the info on there, in 1891 the family would have consisted of Andrew, Jane and their children Evelyn James and Annie. Their address in 1901 was 3 in Crescent Place Clontarf West, Dublin. I understand that the census is only complete from 1901 so any pointers as to where I should go next for information would be greatly appreciated

Chris
