Norfolk Lookup Requests / Andrew Siely B 1765 D 1859 Walcot Norfolk
« on: Wednesday 22 June 11 11:04 BST (UK)  »
Wife is related by marriage to Siely's in Tasmania that descend from Andrew Siely in  Walcot, Norfolk.
Freereg has done a very good job of transcribing the Parish Registers from North Walsham, Walcot and Happisburgh, and have sorted out Andrew's descendants reasonably well.

There are a lot of Siely's, that are probably related to Andrew, mentioned in the Registers from the 17th Century, but I can't work out how to relate them.

Has anyone done a Siely Tree from the area that goes back before Andrew Siely, and shows how they all connect ?

Would be interested to know if Andrew is related closely to the John Siely from Norwich at the time, who was a Surgoen, but had children baptised and married at North Walsham

Australia / George GILLARD b 1871 Lived in Lefroy Tasmania
« on: Friday 29 April 11 09:56 BST (UK)  »
Just wondering if anyone had any more  info on a George Gillard b1871. He married Susan Merritt in Launceston Tasmania 9 May 1892. At that time they lived in Lefroy in N E Tasmania and George was involved in prospecting on the goldfields there.
They had two children Jack and George Jnr which are also mentioned in the Tas Government Archives Colonial Settlers database.
There were a lot of Gillards around Deloraine at the time, but I don't think this particular George was directly related to them.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: DOODY in Manchester 1823 to 1841
« on: Sunday 03 April 11 03:17 BST (UK)  »
Actually I had a look at the Descendant output one of my cousins sent me a while back, and she must have seen Joseph's marriage certificate somewhere.
It appears Joseph's father  was a John Doody, and his mother was listed as Mary Bloomer.
One of the people on Ancestry.Com have linked Joseph up to Doody's down in Lilleshall in Shropshire, but think this in incorrect, the Doody's in my line came from Ireland in 1823.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / DOODY in Manchester 1823 to 1841
« on: Sunday 03 April 11 01:10 BST (UK)  »
I am related to a Joseph Doody who married Lucy Bowden in Manchester Cathedral 12 Aug 1849
His parents came to Manchester from Ireland about 1823.
The family is listed on 1841 Census at London Road District, with a Mother of Mary Doody born in Ireland about 1797, but  the father is missing, so presume he died somethime between 1831 and 1841.
Have looked at the On-Line Parish registers for Lancashire, in particular Manchester, but no results for this family.
Just wondering if anyone had some Birth details for Denis Doody b 1824, Catherine b 1826, Joseph ( my great great grandfather ) b 1828 or John Doody b 1831. Or perhaps Death details for their father.
At this time they would have been Catholic, so the closest Catholic Churches to London Road seem to be St Augustines or St Chad.
Lucy Bowden was C of E so presume that was why her and Joseph were married at the Cathedral.
Mainly hoping any Notices might give some info on exactly where in Ireland the Family came from, otherwise it is a dead end.

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / S. A. Beesley of Southend on Sea
« on: Monday 28 February 11 08:39 GMT (UK)  »
Wondering if anyone has any info on an S.A. Beesley who gave his English address as Southend on Sea at the Marriage of his Son, Albert Edward Beesley to Maud Millicent Argent  28th Jan 1915 in Semaphore, Adelaide, South Australia. Appears S.A. Beesley had come across from Mosman in Sydney for the Wedding, although his Sydney Address was temporary.
Did find an 8 year old Albert Edward Beesley from the 1901 Census for Leigh in Essex, but he only had a Mother Ellen, no mention of a Father called S.A. Beesley
Also found a Stuart Beesley from Abingdon in the 1891 Census but think these Beesley's are too far from Essex to be related.

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: OLIVER, William Edward - 2 Mar 1851

Started to go through the Medway site, but looked like it would take forever to find anything.

Having you supply Census, Baptism and Marriage Entries, as well as the location of what is almost certainly my Great Great Great Grandfather's grave is fantastic !

Absolutely amazed how you guys can turn up such specific information in such a short time, no wonder you thrashed us in the latest Ashes Series !

Dear George,

Yes, William Henery ( although you seem to think it is Henry, I got my spelling from the Tasmanian Govt Colonial Archive site )   Vincent is my wife, Kerri's, Grand Father.

Just out of interest, which of H Vincent/Alison Polson's children does your direct line come from ?
( Afraid I have no information past H Vincent either )

Do you have any dates on the deaths of William Henery ( Henry ) Vincent's siblings ?

It would complete my tree a bit better

Regards
Mike
