Wexford / 1901 census - incomplete?
« on: Saturday 28 July 12 06:53 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me if the 1901 census is incomplete, please? I am unable to find my gt grandmother and her family - were they just missed off the census? I know she was born in 1888 in County Wexford but can only find her married on the 1911 census. I have tried to locate her in all of Ireland but with no success, thanks

I have been in contact with someone in Arklow who is going to visit the local coastguard office to ask about the local records they hold and see if he can get information on my Hayden. I will let you know the outcome.... thanks to everyone

No Shane, it was in 1972. I don't know of any locations but as he lived and worked in Arklow I just presumed that it would be the Arklow lifeboats. His name is Laurence Hayden, known as Larry.

I have been given information from a newspaper obituary of Larry Hayden who died in 1972 aged 70. He lived in Rory O'Connor Place. As well as being a docker for most of his life the announcement also stated that...'he also did dedicated work with the Coastguard service'. Are there any records available that would give any information on his time with the coastguards?

Thanks Andrew, I've been apprehensive about sending credit card details through the post, looks like I will have to now, far too many certs needed lol

As I had the page and volume info I ordered a marriage cert from Lombard St East, Dublin stating specifically that I required a RESEARCH copy. I know that they are 4e  I had to pay 11e and when I received it it was a copy of the original. I made the request over the phone as I live in England and cannot visit in person. Can research copies only be ordered by post??
