London and Middlesex / Baptism record.
« on: Saturday 06 February 21 16:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have not posted on RC for several years now, but trying to break down some of my FH brick walls, as a lot more information is available now from when I first started. would be so grateful for any information that might help.  Thank you.

Trying to find a batism record, I can find no registrion record for my Gt Grandmother Harriet Stanley .

On her marriage to Samuel Hall in 1868 in St Thomas, parish of Stepney she is a minor with consent, gives her father as Thomas Thurston Stanley , Deceased.   She gives her POB in later census as born St. Georges in the East, Stepney.

I have a very early photograph of my Gt Grandafather who was given as a Private in the above regiment later  to become the 2nd Battalion The Border regiment.

He has on his sleeve 4 upside down V.s and  above them 2 crossed rifles, can anyone tell me what this means please ?

Thank you  Patricia

Thank you everyone who replied.

"Did you check freeBMD? There is only one Gater marriage in Newton Abbott in 1922, Ernest J Gater, married Mildred White."

"The birth of the son in Totnes can also be found on freeBMD."

Yes thats where I found the information

Thank you for all the information, I posted this on behalf of a friend who does not have internet access, so I will pass it on to her.   Caroline Ayling was married to Joseph Johnson, they are her 2 x gt grandparents. ( I think )
