Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Look up request SEABROOKE in Redbourn
« on: Wednesday 28 December 11 19:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Ive done Seabrook and Ivory research in the past my grandmother being an Ivory. There are several online Seabrook researchers including Daniel in Australia and Susanne Seabrook.  I have the following from Daniel's database: Michael Seabrook b. 26/7/1807 Redbourn m. Hannah Ivory 10 1/1835 Rebourn. His parents were George Seabrook, farmer of Beeson End Farm Redbourn, born abt 1775 Wheathampstead d. 11/10/1865 Redbourn. Married Susannah Smith 17/7/1797 Hemel Hempstead. I have photo of grave in Redburn churchyard.  George's parents were George Seabrook and Elizabeth Humphrey. The earliest Seabrook in this line that I have found is John Seabrook, yeoman of Beeson End Farm who died in 1680. The Seabrooks and Ivorys were very well known farming families in the Redbourn/Harpenden/Wheathampstead and Kimpton area.

Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Re: William PATMORE of Wheathampstead, Herts.

Dear Rick, I have heard back from HALS William Patmore was buried in Sandridge as we thought 12/5/1832 with a note saying he was 82 years old and from Harpenden. Elizabeth Patmore was also buried in Sandridge on 15/5/1855 aged 81 again from Harpenden parish. There was an MI for William but W.B. Gerish could not transcribe it as the letters were mostly worn off. I found Elizabeth Patmore (transcribed as Palmore) in 1851 census living with a daughter Sarah Freeman in Harpenden a few doors down from her son John Patmore who ran the Red Lion pub. This is a v. successful outcome and thanks again for your suggestions.  cimarra

Thanks for excluding Redbourn Rick. I have just received the MI brochure for Wheathampstead and could not see any William or Elizabeth Patmore there. To save time Ill contact HALS to see if they can solve the mystery.

Hi Rick, many thanks for your help. I have the Wheathampstead MIs but no sign of William and Elizabeth. Ive been told the MI leaflet for Harpenden is out of print so will get in touch with HALS and at the same time ask them to check burials in Wheathampstead, Sandridge and Harpenden. Unfortunately I dont know the name/exact location  of the family farm which might have. The Sandridge burial is a definite possibility. Best regards

Cimarra

Thanks v. much Rick for the explanation about St. Nicholas Harpenden church and I will certainly take your advice and look for the burials at HALS or Sog in the locations you mention.

Thanks for your two helpful replies. My request should have been posted under Hertfordshire. Sorry Im a real beginner! I have looked at the Wheathampstead website previously but found nothing.  I have William Patmore's will proved 1832 which states he was a yeoman and owned messuages. His wife Elizabeth Wethered was bap 19/9/1773 Sandridge and they were married 14/1/1794 Wheathampstead. Ive noticed people born in Wheathampstead parish being baptised Harpenden which I gather only became a separate parish in 1859. Thats why I think they could be buried either Wheathampstead, Harpenden or perhaps Sandridge.

Herts Completed Lookup Requests / William PATMORE of Wheathampstead, Herts.
« on: Sunday 03 April 11 16:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone this is my first post. Can anyone help me find the the burials of William Patmore yeoman of Wheathampstead, Herts. (who made will 1828 proved 1832) and his wife Elizabeth (Whethered) Patmore who was living in 1828. I have checked the NBI but found nothing.  After Wheathampstead, Harpenden or Sandrige parishes are a possibility. I live in Italy so cannot get to SoG or Herts Archives. Any assistance greatly appreciated.
