Thomas DOUGHTY(born about 1780 at Wheldrake) and his wife Ann(born about 1784 at York) likely were living in York at the time of the census-taking.

Ayrshire / 1851 Kirkoswald Census look-up - ROBB family - completed with thanks!
« on: Friday 04 November 05 13:44 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for my ROBB family who lived in Kirkoswald, Ayrshire, Scotland prior to emigrating to Canada.

James ROBB and his wife Agnes were both born about 1800 in Kirkoswald, Ayrshire.

Their children may have included: James(born February 17, 1821), Andrew(August 18, 1823), Margaret(March 19, 1826), Agnes(September 24, 1828), Janet(December 12, 1831), and Helen Kerr(September 27, 1835). Their children were all born in Kirkoswald excepting their last child Helen(Ellen) who was born in Kirkmichael.

I am hoping that this family might be found in the 1851 Census prior to their departure to Canada in the mid 1850's.

Thank you!

Thomas Henry WOODGATE and his wife Emma may have been living in London in 1861. Here is what I know about his family.

Thomas Henry born July 24, 1810 on St. Luke Old Street, London, England. His wife Emma was born about 1827 in Sheffield, London, England.

They had a son, Alfred Charles WOODGATE who was born June 14, 1851.

Any help with this family would be appreciated!

Please consider looking for Samuel and Elizabeth CORNISH in the 1851 Census. I imagine that they would be living in Linstead Parva as that is where Samuel was born and died.

Samuel would be about 63 years old, possibly a labourer and Elizabeth would be about the same age but she was born in Huntingfield, Suffolk County.

They may have been living with their son Samuel or daughter Emma.

Thank you!

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1851 York Census look-up please - OHMAN
« on: Thursday 03 November 05 01:38 GMT (UK)  »
I am sorry that I don't have many details about my English ancestor but am hoping that because the surname is a tad unusual, something might turn up.

My great-great-grandmother Jane OHMAN was apparently born in York, England about 1828. Her father, according to marriage records, was Henry OHMAN who was possibly an organ builder.

Would a search of the 1851 York Census provide any possible details about Henry? His daughter, Jane had already married by this time and was living in Canada.

Thank you!

Tricia was kind enough to look for my CORNISH family in the 1851 Census.

James CORNISH(born c 1815; Yoxford, Suffolk County) and his wife Margaret(born c 1820; Metfield, Suffolk County) were married at Chediston, Suffolk County. They lived in Suffolk County until their immigration to Canada around 1866.

Would anyone consider looking for James and Margaret CORNISH and their children who were all born at Linstead Parva: Hannah(c 1844), John(c 1846), and Maria(c 1850).

Thank you!

It is thought that Abraham and Alice ROBERTS were the parents of John ROBERTS(born about 1822 in Woolwich, Kent) and possibly Joseph ROBERTS(born 1824). Joseph ROBERTS was christened at Saint Mary Magdalene, Woolwich, Kent on April 18, 1824 according to extractions from records found at Family Search.

Would anyone consider looking at the 1841 Census for Woolwich, Kent for Abraham and Alice ROBERTS? Their sons John(would be around 19 years of age) and Joseph(around 17 years old) may have been living with them at the time. A marriage record for son John indicated that Abraham had been a soldier.

Thank you for your assistance!
