United States of America / Re: Help to find Michael CAHALANE/ Callahan
« on: Friday 20 January 17 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi again!

Can anyone advise me please? Is there any way of getting further information on an entry in US 1920 census, bar what was written on it. There is  a Michael Callahan, in Ward 2, Hennepin, Minnesota, who matches Michael I am searching for but I would love if there was any way of finding any further info. Maybe its wishful thinking on my behalf :) :).  Any suggestions greatly appreciated :) :) :)
Thanks,
Cath

US Lookup Requests / Re: Helena Cahalane

Hi,
My reply may not be of use to you, but did you try searching under Ellen, and Callahan? My Cahalanes from Skibbereen became Callahan in the US, and I also had an ancestor in Ireland that was recorded as Helen sometimes and Ellen other times. :)

United States of America / Daniel Callahan and Mary Donohue- Help to find family
« on: Tuesday 23 June 15 23:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi! I am hoping to find family members/ information on Daniel Callahan (born Cahalane)  in 1872, near Skibbereen, Co.Cork, Ireland.  He travelled to USA in 1898, possibly with his brother Michael (born 1873), whom I am also searching for. Daniel married Mary Donohue 19 Dec 1906 in Boston and went on to have at least 5 children.. John F Callahan born 1907, Daniel Joseph born 1910, Jeremiah born 1912, Katherine 1914, and William 1916. In 1910 census, they were living at 29 Magazine Road, Suffolk, Ma. I would love to find some more information on this family and also Daniels brother Michael. Family legend suggests they may have resided/ died in the Cambridge, MA, area. Any suggestions as to where I could look would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, Cath :)

Hi, I realise that this is an old post, but Reengaroga (or Reengarogy) island is a few miles from Baltimore and there are still O Mahony's living there.

Thanks Rosball :) I see on the WA marriage records, a Basil Magro married Sylvia E Chaney in 1935. I feel that these must be relations from the other side of the family, and not my ancestors but I could be completely wrong! Will keep digging ;)

Thanks again

Hi all, may I ask your advice please? :)

Rosball kindly gave me this link:   Adding : a death notice for Margaret which names  niece and nephew
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article47739369

I have found these to have married in 1941, and as theres a 75 year guideline to wait before ordering a marriage cert, and  only 73 have passed, is there any other way of finding out Phoebe's parents name? Seeing as she describes Margaret as her aunt, and I have all others found, I'm wondering is this my missing Mary, or would she be describing her Uncles wife as her aunt?
Would love to hear your thoughts! :-\
Thanks again,
Cath

Cupoflife, thank you yet again :), never thought to put a space in between :-[

These ancestors seem to consume my time at the moment!! :P   I originally thought 5 had gone to Australia with 1 returning to Ireland, but since learnt that 7 went to Australia with 1 returning! Have traced 5 so am still seeking Mary! One of these days, I will find her!!! ;D ;)

Thanks again for all your help.

Cupoflife, thank you so much, you have really given me huge information :) :) :)
Think its going to take me a little while to digest it all!!
I followed the link for the cemetery search but I may be doing something wrong as I can't seem to bring up James McGrath :-[ :-[
Am I correct in saying that James and Nell were buried in different cemeteries? Him in Rookwood and her in North Surburbs Catholic Lawn Cemetery?

Thank you again so much for all your help and information ;D
