Hello.

The attached jpg is of the back of a 4 Ľ” x 6 ˝” HAMPTON, Argyle Street Glasgow photo, most probably in the time frame 1895 – 1905, and is one of several sent from Glasgow to the antipodeans. Others were from the McNAB, 92 West Nile St Glasgow Studio, operating 1880 – 1900, or so I believe. The subject see;

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,533715.0.html

could well be a second cousin, of the person who put the album collection together. Euphemia was a family name, handed down the generations of many cousins, but any connection would have to be from about the 1820’s when family started dispersing around the world. As this photo carries a re-order number, I am hoping some one has a dated photo, with a close re-order number, to narrow down the date of issue.

Hello.

This old photo is a mystery to me. It's origins have been lost with time. Have you seen it before, and know where it belongs ?

New Zealand Completed Requests / DICK family, "Edendale" Auckland c1907?
« on: Monday 02 May 11 11:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello.

Below are two photos which may be of interest to DICK family researchers. I have information that in 1909 Robert DICK was giving his occupation as "Otahuhu Chemical Works" Manager, on a Waikato mortgage. I assume he is the same man associated with these two photos. Family are invited to PM me to exchange info.

New Zealand Completed Requests / McSWEENEY – Waikato 1880 - 1900
« on: Friday 08 April 11 12:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello.
After the Waikato Militia disbanded, there were a number of McSWEENEY’s in the greater Hamilton area. Fred, Michael, Charles and John. Waikato Times, often records a ‘McSweeney’ in rugby teams, and on the Athletics track.

I see Charles Jnr suffered a serious accident.

I have heritage information, I can share with descendants of these McSWEENY siblings c 1880 – 1900. John, Edmund, May, Eugena, Thomas, Erick (? Erick Sweeney ) & William.

It would appear that no one is researching this family name at this time, but the offer is now on the table. Please PM me if interested.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Nails that protected us.
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 21:20 BST (UK)  »
Hello.

I’m interested in making contact with anyone who can provide information about nails used in New Zealand construction c1890’s. I have been involved with Estate buildings c1880’s where horseshoe like nails were heavily used. Now interested in a slightly younger building, where crowned wire nails were used in a construction still built with mortised bottom plate and studs. Unfortunately the chimney bricks carry no imprint. Any thing to help with dating, like sales catalogues with illustrations of nails, or publication titles of books about construction of that period. It was the first building on the title, and prior to family ownership.

Renfrewshire / Renfrew Family History Society - Contact - COMPLETED
« on: Friday 25 March 11 20:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hello.

Is any one else having similar problems ?

The Renfrew Family History Society site is one I keep an eye on, but to date have had no luck making e-contact, through their web service, the only e-contact I can find on the site. Previously my emails bounced straight back. Now they have possibly fixed the link, but a recent email enquiring about the content, of the address below, has gone unanswered.

It could well have been and address, I would have liked to obtain a copy of. I’ve had more success with other Glasgow Societies. Even a pro-forma acknowledgment would be appreciated. Then you would know the volunteers, had your request for info, and a reply would be coming in due course.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Auckland Street name history
« on: Thursday 24 March 11 06:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again.

Herewith a direct link to a history of Auckland Street Names. Not sure if the pages have been updated since I did my research, but if not there should be an article on the history of changes.

I'm somewhat surprised that living author's and research leader's names can not be mentioned to posters to assist with their searching options. Their material is very much public domain.  It was on this basis that I named the gentleman that has done so much for Auckland researchers.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Waikato Estate Identities
« on: Monday 21 March 11 22:38 GMT (UK)  »
Original Waikato Estates.

I am researching some identities associated with the early Estates. The Bullock WEBSTER diaries, are very informative, and a lot has been published about the Estates associated with REYNOLDS and RUSSELL, but I’m struggling to find material on the Freshfield & Kainui Estates.  All of which were broken up by about 1905. If your family members were involved as Managers of, or Contractors for, these Estates, I would appreciate contact.

Thanks – Alan.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Old Stock & Station Agents, Identity
« on: Monday 21 March 11 22:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello.

NZ Papers past research of some old Stock & Station Agent companies, has lead me to a local item quoting a FOX family at Papakura, c1930’s  (Possibly also Ramarama). If any one has information about how one could make contact with this Fox family, could you please PM me, or ask them to PM if they are a member.
(I have private research projects on the go, re South Auckland & Waikato Heritage Research, and will provide by PM, verifiable credentials, before any personal contact details need be exchanged, by the person making contact.)

Thanks - Alan.
