Hi
This is an ancestor I can find nothing about.  A letter says she was born in Buckinghamshire, and a second marriage certificate in 1907 in Quebec, Canada states maiden name Ida Walker, although she went by Meggison, and was widow pf Andrew Paton Morrison.  Go figure.  Gravestone says Aida Walker.

Yes, I think the Americans would still like to have Canada, but there you are.  I will try to follow up.  Not sure how to google the baron of longueuil + quebec but will give it a go.

Hi again,
Thanks for all the good information you are giving me.  There was no indication that my Thomas was in the military. I think that was happening before his time, but I will check.  I have never been told that he was connected to the fur trade either, but I will follow-up on your suggestions.  Thanks

Perhaps I wasn't very clear about what I wanted.  Is there a record of this death?

Hi Lauraine,
My ggg grandfather would not have been in Maine.  As for census returns, Thomas died in 1844.  Perhaps, I could try a Montreal census as he lived there for awhile. I don't know what ship he may have come over on, although I have tried to find out.
And I have tried to find out about work records for the Baron of Longueuil.  I have tried the PRDH which is Quebec Archives.  So I have tried, but thank you for your suggestions.

Sure, try 1851. May only be Robert Meggison and wife Margaret Clarke by then. But worth a try.  Thanks for replying.

Thank you Sharon,  I did find the marriage of Oswald and Mary but needed to be sure that it was the correct Oswald and you have proved that.  Thanks again.  Would you happen to have the children of Oswald and Mary?  Or that James Meggison who married Sarah Butrick is also a son of Robert and Jane Davison?

Hi Lauraine,
According to my family handwritten notes, my ggg grandfather Thomas came from Sheffield, England.  When I joined Rootschat, and put out the information that I had from a letter dated Aug 1844, a family from Durham came up, that seems to fit the bill nicely.  I have been checking out some of the details in the letter with different postings and it still seems to fit.  I want to be sure I have the right person.  So if I could somehow prove that this Thomas emigrated to Canada approx.1800-1804, I think it would be the final proof that I have the correct family.  Sorry if I have confused anyone, and thank you for your time.

Thomas was born in Sedgefield, Durham in 1782 and was in Montreal in 1805 when he was married to Agathe Louzon.  I think he came on his own but could be wrong. He was a miller and worked for the Baron of Longueuil after arrival in Canada. A lot of Meggisons went to PEI but not Thomas.  I estimate emigration very early 1800s as he was only born in 1782.
