It was the Pollock family who were at Kingston approximately from 1851 - 1858.  Gray865

Thanks Rosinish and Monica. I'm sure she was known as Margaret as I can see that on the censuses and on her marriage and birth certs. of her family and on the same certs. the various spellings of Bigham.  I tried FM* but I don't much like it as how can you tell if you have the right family or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Her daughter Mary died 1897 in Dumfries. There are other family members who well may be over the border but I can't trace them. I'll try your suggestions Monica. Gray865

I had already tried that one out Monica and I don't see anything else. Such a frustrating family.

Dumfriesshire / Death of Margaret Bigham

I've been unsuccessful in finding the death details of Margaret Coupland nee Bigham. In the 1871 and 1881 census she is with her daughter Mary Thomson in Dumfries.  Born about 1804 - I have no birth certificate. I have also searched with Scotlandspeople with variations of her surname. Suggestions on what to try next.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Continuing the family name.

I would love to find out if the family name is continuing on. I have two males born in Scotland 1959 and 1969.  The parents and sons emigrated to New Zealand at a guess in the 1970's.  The sons paternal grandparent was I of 12 (my grandfather was 1of them). Their parents died in Papakura, in 2010.  Those distant cousins are the only males from this large family.  Am I able to access any resources to be able to find out marriage, children? Gray865

Thank You 'Ammack', 'Rosie', 'CaroleW'.   My Christina 'Bowman' has been found - she was a Porteous.  I've always felt there was a Porteous connection to Bowman and I don't mean just the Granny and Great Aunt. I'll just keep hoping.   Gray865

Your brilliant Rosie. Indeed it is Christina.  Though why the record didn't show on SP is strange as I had put in Porteous.  I also had the Porteous family at Maybole but didn't check all the censuses.  I basically was going round in circles, I needed fresh eyes so thank you all for being so helpful.
