« on: Sunday 15 May 11 14:48 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know anything about the history of a waukmill ( woolmill ) at Dulnain Bridge.  It is on a mid 19thC map of the village by a weir to the west of the village but no longer exists.

World War One / Royal Scots Gallipoli
« on: Thursday 12 May 11 19:25 BST (UK)  »
I am having trouble tracking down my grandfather, Herbert Thomson Grant, who served in the Royal Scots during WW1 and was injured at Gallipoli, and then transferred to the Labour Corp, in Egypt I think, for the duration.  His Medal Card gives his Royal Scots number as Pte 2043.  Having looked for the Royal Scots at Gallipoli, I find that there were a number of different regiments and can't get any further on pinning him down more accurately.  Any suggestions?

Wiltshire / Raymond Hugo CLIBBORN
« on: Tuesday 10 May 11 20:25 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what happened to my great uncle Hugo.  He was severely shell shocked in WW2 and the family institutionalised him in the late forties.  I have found a death record that says that he died in Salisbury in 1960.  Is there any way I could find out where he was sent and where he might be buried?

The Common Room / Malaya between the wars.
« on: Sunday 01 May 11 09:30 BST (UK)  »
My Grandfather, Neil George Ferguson, was a Colonial Office Engineer in Malaya from 1926.  I am interested in finding out if possible what he worked on.  I have one photo with "clearing the jungle to build the road to Siam" on the back, and a couple of bridges being either built or restored.  Also I would particularly like to know where in Muar or its vicinity he was living when the Japanese came through in January 1942.  Any ideas?

Inverness / Anne GRANT of Rothiemurcus
« on: Thursday 28 April 11 20:41 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find a birth record for Anne Grant, married on 13. 01. 1784 at Knockando and described as being "of the parish of Rothiemurcus".  I have tried Scotland's People with no success.  Of course she may have moved to Rothiemurcus after her birth or her father may be one of the Grants who adopted the name on taking a tenancy so had two surnames.  In the early 19thC she and her husband William, also Grant, moved to Bridge of Curr which became Dulnain Bridge and spent their final days either in Dulnain Bridge or Grantown upon Spey.  Any suggestions gratefully received,

Moray (Elginshire) / Grantown on Spey - Gravestones
« on: Tuesday 26 April 11 19:38 BST (UK)  »
I am wondering if anyone would be able to look at the old gravestones in Inverallen churchyard.  I am trying to trace a William and Ann Grant, married at Knockando in 1784, who moved to Dulnain Bridge, then known as Bridge of Curr, in the early 19thC.  As the records in Knockando were destroyed in a fire, the only way I have of going back further with either of them is if they have any further information on their gravestones.  Many thanks, Jenny.
