Thanks Dee, I will be back! Might have to drag all of my family stuff out - but must get this done first  ;D.

You'll definitely see me around again. Will close this thread soon as per housekeeping request.

Cheers

Dee, thank you so much again. You really have gone above and beyond for me. I am going to try to put a lot of this into a tree on Legacy for my friend. I'm seeing her in a couple of weeks and I'd love to be able to give her all of that information. Legacy stumps me a bit but this will give me some practice!

I hope that one day I'm able to help people like you do.

Cando, thank you for reminding me of the transcription service, cheaper as you said and possibly may even be faster, I think. Thanks also for clarifying the difference in the dates.

Cheers,
Macushla

Thank you, Dee, so much to take in! Wishing this was my family!

Very interesting re 2 of the LYNCH girls marrying BAVERSTOCKS, thank you for that ... I know too that one of the BAVERSTOCK girls married a LYNCH ... haven't confirmed that it's the same family but seems likely.

I had a quick look at Google 'WOOLMAN Port Adelaide' and there are lots of things to follow up there, too.

Wonderful, Dee, thank you  ;D Macushla.

Dee, you've made my day!

Thanks to for the info re death certificate; I think the site I had indicated that I would get Maria's children's names, but that would have been too easy, wouldn't it!

Have tried Trove to find death notices for Maria, but without luck. Will have another think and perhaps contact the State Library SA.

Thank you so much, Dee. Have a great night.

Dee,

Thank you so much! Interesting that the death date and age that I have is slightly different ... my info is from Cheltenham Cemetery. I think that death certificate would be a worthwhile purchase.

I think that you have the right birth there, marriage records list her father as John LYNCH and one of her children was Beatrice Rhoda, so likely she has passed on her mother's name.

9 siblings! Dee, if you would give me that information, that would be wonderful!

I am actually looking into this for a friend, and she is so excited about what we have found so far. There is some mystery about Maria ... some family stories that my friend is trying to work out. Interesting, too, that she was not buried with her husband; David SULLIVAN is at Centennial Park.

Thank you, Dee, so much.

Australia / CLOSED South Australia death - Maria SULLIVAN
« on: Tuesday 31 May 11 12:13 BST (UK)  »
Good evening, everyone.

I'm looking for all possible death details for Maria SULLIVAN (nee LYNCH, formerly BAVERSTOCK). Details that I have are:

Date of Death: 25 January 1938
Age: 79 Years
Last Abode: PORT ADELAIDE, SA

She was buried at Cheltenham Cemetery, but no help there as the site was redeveloped in the 1950s.

I don't have birth details but her first marriage was to James BAVERSTOCK 16 Oct 1883 (Port Adelaide Dist PtA 137/140) and her age then was 21, so assuming birth around 1862.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Technical Help / CLOSED Legacy 7.5 Standard - best way to enter sources?
« on: Saturday 28 May 11 14:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

Not exactly new to this but haven't looked into family history for a few years. I'm now doing a bit to help a friend and want to enter what I've found into Legacy 7.5 (standard).
I have never been sure how to best enter vital information (what I understand to be birth, death or marriage etc. certificates) most efficiently into the source details.
Would it be possible for anyone to post a sample of how they do it? I get very confused as to repository, source list name, author, title etc. for a certificate.
I realise how basic this sounds but I'd really like to see how others enter the information.

Thanks so much.
