Clackmannanshire / Looking for information on William and Mary Hunter(Allan)
« on: Tuesday 03 May 11 17:47 BST (UK)  »
Yesterday I learned that Mary Allan Hunter died in Alloa in 1929 (A kind rootchatter found the death certificate on SP). Prior to learning that, the last record I found for her was the 1881 census. Can anyone fill in any information on the years in between? Any info greatly appreciated.

Argyllshire / Re: Ballachulish

I believe my maternal great grandmother was born in Ballachulish. Her parents, John Clark and Catherine McDonald were listed as living at 47 West Laroch in 1851, Laroch village in 1861, the Cottage in 1871, West Laroch village in 1881 and Ball Rd. in 1891. Do these place still exist? Do you know of a website with pictures of these areas? I live in Canada but would love to have an idea of what Ballachulish looked/looks like. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have information on a Helen Gebbie, daughter of James Gebbie and Janet Paterson? She was born in 1810 in Galston and married a Charles Currie on 29 May 1829 in Riccarton. I can't find her or Charles after their marriage. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Dear Stephen,
How kind of you to offer to take pictures of sites of interest in Renfrewshire. For those of us who live too far away to visit the sites ourselves you are godsend. I'm new to Rootschat and posted my first requests today one of which was concerning the Mosside Brickwork which was locared in Cathcart. Are you familiar with it? Does it still exist? Another place of interest is "Millbrae" in Cathcart as listed in the 1871 census for William Allan's place of residence. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know what happened to Mary Allan born in 1880 in Cathcart Renfrewshire? She was the daughter of William Allan and Catherine Clark and the 6th child born to them.

Renfrewshire / What happened to William Allan?
« on: Saturday 30 April 11 15:06 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace a William Allan who lived in Cathcart, Renfrewshire in the 1871 & 1881 census. I can find no trace of William, his wife Catherine & children Catherine, Margaret, John, william, James, Mary, Agnes Donald and Janet in the 1891 census. Catherine and some of the children are in the 1901 census in Cathcart, Lanarkshire but there is no sign of William. I also can't find a date of death for him. William was born about 1841 in Old Monkland. Any help would be appreciated.
