The best thing would be to check with uncle re the certificate. If he doesn't have it then you really need it to find her father's name.
Then as Susie says, there's lots of help available.
Just to say that I looked last evening for a Pugh/Hughes marriage and couldn't find onebut will continue to search.

My Robert Andrew Joy didnt marry Emily Hughes - he married Emily Pugh who was previously Hughes (she was a widower).

I totally agree I have no public trees of my own ,but it popped up last night when I was looking for her,I prefer to research from scratch,

Both Annie and Emilys birth are registered in Ardwick, on Lancs bmd ,
My cousin gave me the marriage date of 1914 too - which could indicate that this is the same marriage that you have found. I think I need to get hold of the certificate to check dont I?

I will look over this info again so that I am 100% sure of the facts - and I will email my Uncle who passed me this info to see where he got it from and double check everything. It may be a case that he looked at the wrong certificate - but I will check and come back to everyone on the list.
