Hi Forfarian!

Pretty much them all - as I've had a few variations in Haddington, East Lothian - and they have all turned out to be the same family!  Totally confusing, but that is what makes it fun!

Thanks again,

P.S. I notice that you are 'Forfarian' - my Fyfe/Petrie/Milne/Lowson family were all from Forfar - its a place I adore as I have quite a few members of my family still living there.  My ancestor Andrew Fyfe owned and ran the quarry (known locally as Fyfe's Quarry) at Balmashanner - and I particularly love this area of Forfar.  We even support Forfar Football Team!  And my Uncle is their physiotherapist!

 :) :) :)

David - this is wonderful news!  I am so delighted to find a connection to the BURN surname.  What more can you tell me about this family?  What pictures have you got of the BURN family?  Has your wife or you got the tree expanded on the BURN/DARG side?

A million and one questions - this is so exciting.

where is Ardagullion? What was there around that time and what is there now?  Can't seem to find it on a map.  Would love to see a picture of it - or where it was
...

Ardaguillion is a townland of about 661 acres and located about half way along the road between Granard and Edgeworthstown -  just south of it.

You can see the townland on the c1840 6" Historic OSI Maps - Ardaguillion  The red line marks the boundary of the townland.

To see details of the other occupants have a look at the 'original page' link on the Griffith's link posted earlier.

To see the modern route from Granard to the townland of Ardagullion see this google map : link

I can't thank you enough.  I did find the modern day on google maps, but found it all hedgerows and not much else.  I found the old OS map the most interesting as it gives me the whole area of the farm.  This is great because it now gives me something to work from.  Thank you.  Hopefully I can return the good deed sometime in the future,

Lancashire / HUGHES, Salford, Manchester

I have just recently found out that the ancestor I was looking for was actually a HUGHES.  Here is the info I have:

Emily HUGHES aged 34 spinster living at 36 Hunt Street, Everton father Joseph HUGHES, Gen Labourer married Robert JOY aged 38 widower and electrician's labourer, also of 36 Hunt Street, Everton father Daniel JOY, labourer (both father's are noted as deceased)
Marriage took place on 19th July 1914 at United Methodist Church, Hamilton Road, West Derby, in the County of Liverpool.

Any interests?
