Wales / PARRY: Are these the same child?
« on: Thursday 09 February 12 05:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all!  ;D

Need another bit of help here, this time with a child by the name Franklin PARRY.

1851 Census:

Name:   Franklin Parry
Age:   1
Estimated Birth Year:    abt 1850
Relation:   Son
Father's Name:   John Parry
Mother's name:   Mary Parry
Gender:   Male
Where born:   Rhyl, Flintshire, Wales

I can't find Franklin Parry in the birth indexes for 1848-1850 but I can find a Thomas Franklin Middleton PARRY

Surname     Given Name     Age     District     Volume     Page
Births Dec 1849
PARRY    Thomas Franklin Middleton        Asaph St    27   184

and a death in 1851

Surname     Given Name     Age     District     Volume     Page
Deaths Jun 1851
Parry   Thomas Franklin Middleton      St Asaph   XXVII   1_4

The only marriage I can see on FreeBMD for Franklin Parry is someone in 1905 with a different middle name.

Would you say these two are the same child ???

Lancashire / Thomas ECCLES and Sarah ASPINALL
« on: Tuesday 17 January 12 07:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I know a wee bit about these two, and have it listed that they were married c. 1857 in Liverpool, but I can find nothing to prove this. I turn to you, dear Rootschatters, and ask if you can help me find anything concrete on the marriage.

I've had a letter from my Grandmother asking if I can find out as it's of interest to her too.

Thomas Eccles:
Born: 14 October 1832, Hoylake
Died: 21 September 1913, Hoylake

Son of Michael ECCLES and Margaret Ellen HOLMES

Worked as a lighthouse/telegraph keeper.

Sarah Aspinall:
Born: 1836, Liverpool, Lancs
Died: 19 November 1919, Hoylake

Daughter of James Samuel ASPINALL b. 1811
and Alice WRIGHT(?)

I have more info, if it's required I can post it.

Cheers all!

Kent / Help with some Kennett's from Kent please!
« on: Sunday 15 January 12 10:33 GMT (UK)  »
Well I'm up late, waiting on a phone call from the UK, so figured I'd poke around my tree a bit.

I'm descended from a decent length line of Kennett's from Kent (up to 8 great's so far) and as this is my own surname I'm of course very interested in knowing everything I can about the people in it!

In case anyone else who's distantly related stumbles upon this, this is my line of descent:
William Kennett (b. 1658?) his son
Stephen > Thomas Kennett B. 1730 > William Kennett B. 1759 > Thomas Kennett B. 1794 > Thomas Kennett B. 1821 > George Kennett B. 1862 > George Cecil Kennett B. 1890 > then my grandfather and father.

I currently do not have wives for Thomas B. 1794, William b. 1759 or Thomas B. 1730 can anyone help with any of these?

The only one I have a birth place for is Thomas 1730 who was born in Brabourne like his father and grandfather, I'm not sure about his descendants however.

Thanks ahead of time!

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Last two - colourised please
« on: Tuesday 29 November 11 01:45 GMT (UK)  »
I have two more pictures of my grandad that I would love to be coloured. Last two I promise!  ;)

As in the last post, Grandad Arthur had blue eyes, rather dark brown hair and a tan complexion, but not overly tan.

He was in the RAF as a navigator, for uniform colours.

Thanks so much! :D

Edit: My Aunt sent me a better copy of the first portrait so I've switched it for this.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Add some colour please & date one photo
« on: Wednesday 23 November 11 23:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi again  ;D

I have a photo of my granddad, from either 1943 or 44 and one of his father, George, and would like them to have a bit of colour.

Grandad had relatively dark brown hair,  had tan skin, but not tooo tan.
As for his eyes, my dad has (quite light) blue eyes, so Grandad must have had them too.
His uniform is from the RAF.

George, I'm told had the same colouring as Grandad.

For the photo of George, I'm guessing he was in his late 20's maybe, so the late 1910s sometime? seeing as he was born in 1890. Would that fit? The photo is printed on a post card, but there's nothing written on the back so I don't know for sure

Thanks so much!  :D

Looking  up my best friends family tree and was given this photograph, printed on a sheet of ordinary paper alas, and told that it's either her (friend) 2, 3 or 4x great grand parents, which is exceedingly helpful to me!  ???

The male looks like he's wearing some sort of military dress, although I'm certainly no expert.

Would love a date on the photo so I can try and figure out who this might be . A little tidy-up of the two would go down well with the family too I imagine  :)

On a side note, it's very strange looking at this picture, the woman somewhat resembles my friend.

Thanks to all,
Georgia

The Common Room / Constance GRABHAM nee LEE - Help?
« on: Monday 21 November 11 21:44 GMT (UK)  »
Back after quite a while away!

I've been looking in to my best friends’ tree for her and her mum & grandparents. I'm stuck on my friends’ great-grandmother, Constance Lee. I've sat down with my friends Nana and asked her a lot of questions about her mother but she doesn't know much, as she said she didn't worry about her family’s past because she was more worried about surviving in the war. Anyway, what we do know about Constance is as follows:

She was known as nana Connie.
She had no middle name
Believed to be born on the 9th of December, 1906, in Ireland possibly

She married one Cyril Horace J GRABHAM in September of 1926 in Croydon and she died in October 2002, aged 95.

She had 4 children, all of whom are alive, so I can't name them here.

We would really like to find anything more about Nana Connie and her side of the family as no one I've talked to seems to know much about her.

Oh, I've put this in the 'General' section as it would appear to involve both England and Ireland.
Cheers for any help!
