Wales / Mystery man drown in Swansea Bay

Well the story goes that he made my gt grandmother pregnant at the age of 17. He went off fishing in the bay and drown and this is why he did not marry her.

I have looked in the local paper for the time 1880 - 1882, she was born in Feb 1881. No luck so far any thoughts please, my gran was born in Llanelly.

Has anyone got any ideas as to how I can find details of the birth or census. His father was also Andrew Spender and was a Ship Agent, assume he was working in Denmark at the time of juniors birth.

Kent / George Russell born abt 1775 where?

I am looking for the birth records of the above, in 1841 he was living in Lee Kent not born in the county. He was a treenail maker as probably was his father before him. Assume he was born in England he married Sarah Streetly by licence in St Mary Magdalene Woolwich in 1795. Not able to trace licence seems it was lost.

Any help would be appreciated, regards Peter Russell.

Many thanks for your reply, my Russells were in Woolwich/Deptford from the early 1800's so no connection. However George Russell born abt 1775 not in Kent in 1841 census. Thus far not found out where he was born.

Hi, we might be on the same track, however this is not the John Russell that I am looking for. I have also got a death certificate for a John Russell born abt 1838, he died in 1900 at 115 Elizabeth Street, but I can't find out if it is my John Russell as the address does not really tie in with the family, nor the occupation of General Labourer.

Have you any clues? Regards Peter Russell.

Hi, I know a lot about George and Sarah they are my direct ancestors.

Sarah was Sarah Streetly, they were married in 1795 at Woolwich, the last information on them was that they were in Lee Park in 1841, I have tried to find death certificates, but no luck.I am descended from their son Robert George Russell 1810 - 1859.

George and Sarah were married by licence and I have been on the trail but no luck so far.

Lots more to tell you.
