The Common Room / Death in Germany
« on: Thursday 04 October 07 19:31 BST (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone had knowledge about deaths of British Citizens abroad and whether there would be a record in this country. My sister died in Germany. My father was in the Army. She was cremated and subsequently interred in England. How could I find/obtain a certificate re the circumstances of her death. I have checked GRO records from the quarter of her death in 1965 up to a year later and there is no trace of the death registration. Can anyone help/advise. Thanks     Trevor Paul

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Marriage of John HICKMAN to HANNAH
« on: Saturday 30 September 06 11:41 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone please help. I am trying to trace the marriage of John HICKMAN b 1831 at GORNAL. to Hannah. It is not Hannah Malpass as I have that marriage certificate and they are too young and actually appear separately to the one I am tracing in the Census records.( I do have full access to Ancestry but still cannot locate them.)
John and Hannah are the parents of my great grandfather Thomas and they moved to Pilsley, Derbys abt 1870: they do appear in the 1871 Census there. I have checked free BMD and GRO records from 1850 to 1856 but still cannot find the marriage. Is my only recourse to try and  obtain the birth certificate of Thomas HICKMAN, the second born of this marriage, and my great grandfather, and find Hannahs maiden name from that,Or does someone have the information I desire. Also I now have a marriage certificate on offer for the HICKMAN/ MALPASS marriage in 1861 for descendants.
Thanks in anticipation   TrevorPaul

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / INMAN mineral water manufacturers
« on: Tuesday 31 January 06 17:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have discovered that my ancestors Richard INMAN born 1827 at Skipton and his offspring Charles Bottomley INMAN born 1857 Huddersfield and some of their offspring and siblings were fairly big into mineral Water manufacture in the Huddersfield area. Does anyone have any information about them or their company/business. I have researched their births, marriages etc but I am just trying to put some meat on the bones about them. It would be nice to find some photos or other interesting information about them. They seemede to be quite prosperous as Charles INMAN died in 1916 in a large house in  a village called Tockwith near Wetherby.  Regards Trevor
