Hi Rebecca, I don't know how certain you are of the ages of Samuel and Elizabeth as I have found a Samuel PUGSLEY as baptised on 5 November 1732 son of Richard and Jane at Cutcombe.  I have also found a baptism for a daughter to William and Ann LIDSON, on 13 April 1742. Unfortunately the first name is missing and this is how the surname has been transcribed. . There are no other baptisms for LIDSON/LYDSON in the CUTCOMBE register. However, there is a marriage for William LYDSON and Ann BENNETT on 23 December 1739. Is this yours because if it is it more or less verifies the baptism for you. There is also a burial for a William LYDSON on 3 May 1752 at Cutcombe. This is a very rare name in the registers so there is a good chance this one is yours. I cannot find any further info on the marriage of Richard and Jane PUGSLEY. Hope this helps.   I have the following registers, CUTCOMBE, SELWORTHY, LUCCOMBE, WOOTTON COURTENAY and STOKE PERO.  If you enter this link (at end of this message)  into your browser address bar it takes to a site with many other Somerset Parish registers.  Once on the site click on Parish registers. If you need anything else let me know.  Regards Trevor      http://www.wsom.org.uk

Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas CLATWORTHY 1703 at Culcombe

Hi Martin, I have checked the Cutcombe Parish registers in my possession for the marriage of Joel & Joan but it is not there. However there are no entries in the registers from  February 11 1692 to April 22 1695. They appear to be missing. It is, therefore, possible that they married in the early months of 1695.
There is no entry for William in 1634 only a Grace CLATWORTHY on 13 July daughter of William &..... (blank). Later baptisms for William being the father have Emminge as the mother. I don't know if that helps. Before 1634 the entries are very few and far between.
In respect of Joan RIDLER all entries for 1637 are missing. There are some later entries for RIDLER with the parents listed as Gregory and Mary. The entries for 1614 and 1616 are missing so nothing for Emot or William. The marriage entries for 1634 only begin in April and there are only 4 for the whole year. This suggests that many are missing which could include William and Emot. All the entries up to 1638 are Bishops Transcripts which are not very complete. After that date the registers start and they are more complete.Copy this link  into your address bar  http://www.wsom.org.uk/Parreg.html    which should take you to Somerset Parish registers including some for Cutcombe from about 1705. Let me know if you need anything else. Regards Trevor

Hi Martin, I have checked the parish register for Cutcombe and have found Thomas. He was baptised on October 3 1702. Parents are listed as Joel & Joan. Hope that helps.. I have checked to see if I could see Joel and Joan's marriage but there is no entry in the Cutcombe Parish. Do you know where they were wed.  Regards Trevor..... Ps. just for your records these are the baptism dates of the others:
William 22 March 1695, Mary 15 October 1699, Joan 17 May 1701, Nathaniel 10 May 1707,  Abraham 30 July 1709, Grace 26 January 1712, Sarah 20 February, 1714, Ann 11 February 1716.  As you can see there are some differences in some of the years from your information and that I have given you from the Parish registers.  However, I can assure you that I have double checked these dates and the ones I have supplied are correct.  Do you require any other info?

Hi,  You may want to see if there are any siblings or if I could take the family line further back, or are there any burials etc...  Have a think about what I've given you and put into your family tree( I assume you have started one).  Once you've sorted it out give me a shout as what you want me to look for.  Regards Trevor

Hi portishead, The Stoke Pero registers only go up to 1838 after which all birth, marriages and deaths were registered by GRO. Williton was the central place to register these events and covered many town and villages in this area. However, I have found the baptism of Alice RAWLE on 14 July, 1822, daughter of David and Jane( he was a labourer). I have also located David and Jane's marriage on 15 July, 1805. Her maiden names was COURT. Witnesses were William and Jane Ellis. I have also located the baptism of Samuel Burgess at Selworthy on 13 February,1825, son of Edward and Sarah of Holnicote( he a labourer). I have their marriage recorded on 22 June,1822, at Selworthy, :her maiden name was KENT, witnesses were Mary ORCHARD and John STENNER. Neither of the married couple could write as they made their mark in the register. There is also a baptism of Edward BURGESS on 7th February 1799, son of Samuel and Ann. I have checked on the Somerset online Parish transcription of Luccombe and have found a marriage entry for Samuel and Alice on 13 April, 1850. His fathers name given as Edward a labourer and her fathers name given as David a labourer.  Do you require anything else.  Regards Trevor
