Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Kelshall Parish Records
« on: Wednesday 25 January 06 19:23 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for that information.  Interestingly we now know that Charlotte died on 25th February 1851 and that James is living in Kelshall in 1861 with his grandparents but we cannot find out where Samuel is.

Do not know of any connection between Chapman and Cutts but then again we are learning more about the family all the time.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Census look up please

Hope you do not mind me butting in on this but i put 3 Guildford Place in as a search on Rootschat and this one came up.  My husbands g-g-grandfather was a James Gibbons Chapman who's parents were Samuel Chapman and Charlotte Chapman (nee Gibbons). Charlotte died in 1852 aged 24 and her daughter Charlotte Anne died in 1851 aged 17 months. Both deaths were registered as Clerkenwell, (we have the death certs) and the residence of the informant was 3 Guildford Place.  Any ideas of roughly which church would have been closest to Guildford Place and where they may have been buried.

We know that James Gibbons Chapman was baptised in Kelshall in Oct 1852 and he is on the 1861 census as living in Kelshall with his grandfather but we do not know where his father went after the 1851 census.  We also know all that James then married in Wouldham, Kent and remained there until his death raising a large family.

Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Kelshall Parish Records

Has anyone out there any access to the Parish records for Kelshall please.  I am looking for a baptism for a James Gibbons Chapman who we think was baptised about October 1852.

The only real puzzle we have is what happened to Samuel, his wife Charlotte and their Daughter?

We know that their son James Gibbons was in Kelshall, Herts on the 1861 cenus, living with grandparents,  and then in Wouldham, Kent in 1871 where he stayed and raised his own extensive family until his death in the late 1930's.  We are still researching this and any help is gratefully received but by all means move this post to the completed section if necessary.

Kent / All Saints Church, Maidstone.

This is a bit of a longshot but i thought i would give it a go.

My husbands uncle was in the Royal West Kent Regiment and died in Palestine in 1938.  We know that his name is commemorated on a lectern and that it is possible that the lectern is in All Saints Church, Maidstone.  Does anyone here visit All Saints at Maidstne and if possible could they please look and see if the lectern is in public view.  We would like to be able to get a photograph of the lectern in order to show it to members of the family.

The gentleman in question is S. T. Chapman and there will be other names on the lectern.

Thanking you.

Not so far but we are still unravelling the family tree.

Royal Hill is now known as Bexley Road (A220). This is the road between Northumberland Heath and Erith.  Could you please tell me what names you are researching as i have connections to Royal Hill

Some of my husbands family originate from Kelshall in Hertfordshire. The furthest we have got back is to a James Chapman who was born in 1760 and married a Mary Stoton in 1785.  Are there any links to your family tree?
