You're being a bit mysterious about who his wife was!

Was she "Elen" Lee 22 b Liverpool, in 1901?

spot on no mystery, typing finger a bit exhausted

If his parents are alive in 1911 you could check number of children who have died to see if he is still alive at that point.

another good idea I saw his parents on the 1911 census, massive family, 13 kids, 7 still living 6 died. So far via the GRO I could only find 4 using mothers maiden name indexed.

Do you have his wifes burial, could he have been interred with her

I have not found for his wife and child's cremation or burial, perhaps not on deceased on line yet. But a good suggestion I should check with the local history library for area covering Islington for advice on that.

Did you try this death?

June qtr 1931
Paddington Registration District     vol 1a, page 78

Lee, Henry J     age 52   (so born c1879)

Yes that was one of the first "wrong" certificates I bought. A reminder to myself to record the cert details on a Freebmd Postit note that one must belong to someone somewhere!

Stick with it Bob.  Did they have children he may have been living with?

Unfortunately no his wife died during childbirth, the baby it seems lived long enough to be named and both deaths are registered on the same volume and page number

Beeonthebay - Just as an example take a look at this record.  There is an envelope alongside the index just click it.
Marriage Dec qtr 1904
Emily Ritchings
Haslingden    8e   281

Well I never!!!  I didn't even know this existed!!  I can see the typed up very useful information but when I tried to open up an actual scan nothing happened with either link even though I did different formats.  Should I be seeing a copy of a parish register or an actual marriage certificate or am I missing the point here?   ::)

Silvery is correct there is nothing else that you can see other than what has been put on the postem.  The scan is what you should be checking against before ordering a certificate or if you think there is a transcription error as it is a copy of the GRO index.  You can also report transcription errors on this site.

The example I gave you also shows on the entry for her husband James Frederick Wilkinson  ;)  You can if you like leave an email address if you are hoping someone may contact you, personally I don't.

You can leave your e-mail address if the postem concerns someone who is on your tree, however you can replace with words like "at" and "dot" to prevent it being harvested by hackers. By putting my e-mail in this form a while back I was contacted by another researcher of the same family tree so this does and can work. Have just downloaded to "WRONG" death certificates from the GRO so have posted details on the relative postem FreeBMD record. didn't take long, including details such as where and when died, home address and informants name address especially if a relative. This when seen would enable a search for a burial, newspaper notice and electoral rolls which are now coming online.

For the umpteenth time now I have downloaded the WRONG death certificate for Henry LEE last mentioned on his wife's death certificate after the 1901 census at Islington. He was born Henry John LEE to parents John and Julia LEE on the 13th April 1879 and registered at Tottenham Registry.
I cannot find him in 1911 with any certainty, nor in the 1939 Identity Registration, nor the most obvious casualties from WW1, passenger lists etc. So I am gradually eliminating the usual suspects should I change tactics ?
Can anyone come forward with some fresh ideas? apart from waiting for the 1921 census to come online should I last out that long.
cheers
Bob

Suffolk / Thomas LEE from Surrey to Suffolk and back ? 1770 to 1846
« on: Tuesday 21 November 17 14:59 GMT (UK)  »
I have been tracing my ancestor Thomas LEE or LEA from the time he married Eleanor SPENCER at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk in 1797 through to his death at Camberwell Workhouse Surrey in 1846 aged 76. (b 1770?) I have now become convinced that this man was born in Bletchingly, Surrey, per the IGI to parents Richard and Jane in 1778. The connection comes via a nephew Richard LEE (1817) sharing residence with Thomas and Eleanor in the 1841 census. Young Richard being the son of Daniel LEE a brother to Thomas, b Bletchingley 1782. That's the theory.
The problem is I could not locate the baptism entry (image) for neither brother's baptism years on Bletchingley records. Am I looking in the wrong place? maybe fresh eyes will have better luck?
Any help would be most appreciated.
cheers Bob
