Hello are you aware of a Daniel Staines who was a convict and Staines farm Cooks river was his location in an 1841 census? I have Daniel's Ticket of Leave (1840) which states he could stay in the colony only if he kept renting a farm from Mr Parrot. A map of early Peakhurst shows a Mary Parrott (wife of William) and a George Tyrrell (Mary's half brother) next door to one another. But there was also a James Parrott (may not be related to William)? who had land a short space away. Please see attachments. It is a long shot but I am after the exact location of Staines farm Cooks River (also known as Angle farm and Angle Grove). If I can find the Mr Parrott stated on Daniel Staines Ticket of leave I can trace the land grant of Mr Parrott. Another reference to Angle farm (Staines farm) is that it was at the corner of Bonds road and Forest Road Peakhurst.

I think John is a earlier relative of John and Harriet Hardy? Any help appreciated? PS The Ibbotson/Iberson/Ibbitson and Wild link in Australia is also strong?

Hello I have a John Hardy b 1806 Sheffield (Knife Grinder), he was sent to Australia as a convict in 1823 and married a Elizabeth Ibbotson daughter of George Ibbotson born 1793 in Asygarth, North Riding, Yorkshire, England and Mary Ann McAllister (also convicts), George and Mary were married in Australia 1819 and Elizabeth was born in Australia 1820. My John Hardy was also nephew by law to a James Wild (also of Yorkshire- convict sent to Australia on ship Barwell 1798) J. John's death certificate states he was the son of John Hardy Sheffield and mother surname Wilds (so my John Hardy had married James Wild/Wild/Wylde/Wilde's sister). I wonder if Abraham had a brother called John, or possibly George John? Would anyone know a John Hardy or George Hardy Knife Grinder from Sheffield born 1806? I know my John Hardy had a sister/sister in law Ann hardy who lived at 37 Burlington Street Sheffield prior to my John's death in Australia 1897. Any help appreciated?

Australia / Re: Andrew E Murray:said nephew Of Sir Walter SCOTT

Just attaching my Scott tree. I am from Wollongong and Andrew Findlay and Janet Scott are where my  line began in Australia. They migrated 1883 from Jedburgh, Roxburghshire. First to Rockhampton Qld then to Sydney. My grandmother Marion used to say she was a descendant of Sir Walter Scott (poet) through her mother's mother. Her mother was Margaret Bentley who's mother was Janet Scott who married Andrew Findlay. Interestingly Janet Scotts paternal grandmother was also a Scott (another Janet Scott) as was here relative further down her fathers line (another Janet Scott who married Alexander Scott). Kind Regards Sandra Wollongong-Australia.
Apparently one of the Scott women had a sister who went to America and somehow was related to Jessie James? Oh the stories we weave?? You never know it may all be true?

Thanks his parents were listed on his death certificate as John Hardy and mother surname Wilds? His daughter was the informant? Is it possible there could be a marriage between Thomas Hardy and Mary Wilds?
