Hello Dave

I was having a look around your site and and saw some of my relatives in your lists ... what a great site ....
I have recently started researching some family history and my grandmother was married to John Boyce in Pontypool .
Her name was Emily Ada Price and they got married in 1913 and had 4 children ... all of the children are on your site :) ...
I am having a problem finding which John Boyce this would be.
On the marriage certificate it says John Boyce was 25 years old at the time of the marriage and his father's name was John Boyce ...
I was wondering if you knew anything that would help me identify John Boyce and what happened to him ... and i'm assuming because all the kids are on your site the father John Boyce will be too ...
We don't know much other than they married and had 4 kids John A 1913, Evelyn 1916, Florence 1918,  Lilian 1920 ....
John A ended up in Canada ....
Evelyn and Florence were brought up in a convent and didn't know about each other until they were teenagers and at this point we have no information on Lilian ...
something must've happened to John Boyce Snr because Emily Ada went on to marry a Davies and my dad is their son  ... only this year have we found out about the Boyce connection ...
and on Evelyns Christening Record they recorded he was a drummer in the 1st Northamptonshire Regiment  ...
If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Sharyn

There was a William Boyce born approx 1820 who was on trial in Somerset 23 March 1847 Acquital   ( HO27, Piece 83 , Page 29 but dont think this is my William Boyce.
Think he may have died in Shepton Mallet Union Workhouse in 1896.

I believe my William Boice is  on England Easy 1526603 index IO6937-7
as D.O.B. 13 oCTOBER 1816 Father Edward Boice mother Mary.

There is a William Boyce age 74 married / Labourer on the 1891 census of Shepton Mallet Union Workhouse  It looks something like Ditcheat but place was written and written over.
RG12/ 1911 Page 142 Schedule 117  ( No.17 on the page ).

His wife Jane Boyce is at Gelfran Terrace Near Rockingstone Houses, Glyntaf Pontypridd Glamorgan
RG12/ Folio    pg 33 schedule 301.

Jane Boyce 68 is in Pentrebach Road Pontypridd for the 1881 Census RG11/5293 Folio83 pg3 film 1342274 group 22178 with her Son William , wife Elizabeth and her grandchildren.

William Boyce & Jane Boyce are at Peckingmill / Evercreech 1871 census  RG10/2440 Pg 43 Schedule 5 with all their children.

Thanks Rosie,
In 1891 she was shown as Widow on census form.
Unless she argued with him .

There were 2 william Boyce's in that area the same time only a few years of age apart.
think my William Boyce was born 1816 .

Burial details of FREDERICK BOYCE  / BOICE in WEST PENNARD Somersetshire 1840 1850 .

Frederick was found on the 1841 Census age 5 months as FRED BOYCE at Church Lane , West Pennard. Living with his parents William and Jane Boyce and next door to his grandparents Edward and Mary Boice / Boice  ??
He is Not found on the 1851 Census of Ditcheat with the family but another younger Frederic Boyce aged 2 is. So we pressume the first Fred had died quite young.

There was another child named Frederick Boyce born to the same parents in 1848 shown as Frederic Boice   , Christening/Baptism in Ditcheat 14 May 1848. So spelling may also be different to first child. as well.

Are his parents William and Jane Boyce buried with him or his grandparents Edward and Mary Boice / Boice  ??

Thanks Dave Boyce

I am still looking for info on JANE BOYCE nee Walker age 82 who died 15 MAY 1906 in Pontypridd Glamorgan South Wales.
I have a copy of her Death Certificate and Pontypridd Death Reg Details Vol 11a Pg 248 . But in 10 years of researching I have been unable to find her burial site either in Pontypridd area or Somerset area where they came from and her husband is believed to be buried as I have no record of him being in South Wales at the time of his death..
In some early Somersetshire info the name is shown as BOICE instead of BOYCE .
Connections to Evercreech , Ditcheat and West Pennard with my Boyce / Boice families in the late 1700s / throughout the 1800/ 1900s .
Glyntaf or other Cemeteries in the Somerset areas around Ditcheat Evercreech and Bath..
She may be buried with her late husband William Boyce , Joseph William Boyce , William Joseph Boyce or even shown as BOICE instead of Boyce in Somersetshire. He stayed in Somerset when the majority of his family left for South Wales. Jane Boyce was on the 1881 census in Pontypridd without her husband and then on the 1891 census in Pontypridd with her sons and family shown as a "WIDOW " originally from West Pennard.

Any helpers please. !!!

Thanks
