Technical Help / Name of File at top of Image
« on: Monday 25 March 13 18:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

A number of years ago when I printed off census images at home, the name of the file eg 1841 Census Ewan I could make appear at the top of the image, it would always be followed by .jpg

I say make appear because I remember I had to do something to make it appear there.  I didn't actually type it there.

I cannot for the life of me remember what I had to do, can anyone enlighten me please?  Meanwhile I will keep trying.

Many thanks
Ewan

PS

I seem to remember vaguely that once the image was on the screen I had to 'stretch' (pull it down and across) it to cover the screen, resize comes to mind.

Hello

I have been looking on the resource board to see if the answer is there, it doesn't look to be.  Does anyone have access to marriage records that would be able to help please, before I start looking at marriage certificates?

On familysearch there is the marriage of a Walter Henry Clarke to an Alice Foster in 1900, on the record it states the name of the groom's dad.  I am hoping to find the name of the groom in the following marriage.

Walter Henry Clarke who marries an Annie Prescott in 1886 in the Prescot registration district.

Many thanks

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / Walter H Clarke - 1901 census
« on: Wednesday 20 March 13 10:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

Can anyone see a Walter Henry Clarke on the 1901 census please?  Walter married an Alice foster on the Isle of Wight in 1900.  According to familysearch he was born in 1878, that is the only details I have.  If the couple are found it will eliminate this couple from my search or if the registration of  the death of Walter is found then it could further my investigtion.

Many thanks for help.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / William Davis Son of ?
« on: Sunday 03 March 13 19:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I need some help please to find out who William Davis belongs to!

On the 1841 census (HO 107 689/3) in Chiswick, at the bottom of the household list of Thomas (labourer) and Susan Davis there is a 15 year old male, William Davis.

On the 1851 census Thomas Davis is aged 40 (brewers labourer), on the 1861 census he is 49 (brewers servant) and on the 1871 census he is aged 61 (brewers ?)

Thomas Davis married Susan Wakeman in Ealing in 1833.

I have been pondering over this for a few years now and have decided to ponder a bit more, can anyone help please with finding out who William Davis aged 15 on the 1841 census belongs to.

The William Davis on the 1841 census would have been born approximately between 1822 and 1826.

Many thanks

Hello

A Lettitia (maybe Berry) and William Davis were married in 1853 Brentford registration district.  Is there anyway of finding out the name of the groom's dad apart from looking at the certificate.

Many thanks

Technical Help / Putting threads in alphabetical order (completed)
« on: Saturday 23 February 13 20:22 GMT (UK)  »
Before the website was changed it was possible to hover over the top of the column where it currently says view/replies and it would put all the posters in alphabetical name order.  This helped in finding previous posts.  Does anyone know is it not possible to do this now?
